The people who designed this tomb sure thought a lot about protecting its treasures!

Give me a break! The country that is distroying herds of elephants over ivory pretends to care enough about it's citizens to protect them from a tomb that might be booby trapped. I doubt it.

Very interesting but pity that it cannot be explored - on the other hand, it might be in the interest of preservation if we leave the exploring to a later time when technological and other advances might make the venture safer and less destructive!

Thanks Marty for the link to the article by Jesus Diaz. I do think that Chinese historian Guo Zhikun is very wrong about the "booby traps" in my opinion, but the deadly mercury is a very important problem that does need to be looked at in great detail. Read and noted.

Preserving your history is one thing but I agree with Gloria, they should spend an equal amount of time, money and concern over their environment. I had a friend who spent a month in Beijing and said he would never go back. He said he didn't know how people lived there and then there was the dog eat dog mentality and actions of people trying to survive. Be thankful you live in North America because outside Canada and the US life is very cheap.

Yes, in some benighted countries healthcare isn't provided by the state but depends on your ability to pay, and high powered assault weapons are sold in main street stores. Thank goodness America isn't like that.
