I suppose it would be a stretch to say the money wasted on war could be put to better use like health care.
How much is wasted on war anyway?

A Quaker pacifist group is telling Americans that one day of the Iraq War costs $720 million US dollars, or $500,000 a minute.

The group says a day's expenditure is the equivalent of 84 new schools or health care for more than 160,000 people.

The American Friends Service Committee says every child in the country could be given a four-year university scholarship if the money was diverted to education.

The cost of war is easy to find just look it up online you can find out. Are Americans afraid to see how much this war costs them. Do they maybe think it isn't real money? It is. It's your money, it's mine. If you are a taxpayer, YOU are paying for the Iraqi war to the toon of $500,000 A MINUTE-think about it! What could YOU do w/that money? What could the health care system that is now 38th in the WORLD do? This is WHY we are do fare behind #1 and that we can't catch up-because Americans like you Elsie and I'm sure you are very nice, but you just don't realize this war isn't just about supporting the troops by keeping them at a war that is KILLING them it is about the COST that is depriving ALL of us of DECENT health care, decent MENTAL HEALTH CARE, decent SCHOOLS, everything is suffering because of this stupid war. And supporting the troops means bringing them home ALIVE-that is PATRIOTIC!!!!!!!! It's UNAMERICAN to support a President that is costing his own country $500,000 a minute to KILL people who don't want us in their country. We are not bringing democracy anywhere....sorry, it's an illusion. Perhaps we could be trying some of these GREEN HOMES if we were so busy KILLING PEOPLE. If you support the president, you support killing and war. Let's bring peace, hope and love back to the world. NOW. In hope that there is still a chance people will WAKE UP. Noted.

noted, we have a broken health care system. its base on job status, wealth, & all to often profit for doctors & hospital or health insurance companey's Denzel Washington play in a movie out of time. this is so true to how they treat people who do not have money or insurance .the government only wants rich & poor. no more middle class. the feds can sign a check for trillions when needed for the rich to profit off. there should not be one person in the united states with out medical care. every person should be covered. no matter what the reason. when Bush went in the hospital for his pollutes i bet he had a bed waiting for him.& the best doctors . the world is runing out of time with this broken down health care system. those son's of a benches need to get off their lazy greedy ugly ass & fix this problem. money is the route to all evil i'm please this person had the heart to bust their balls. thats a star for him in the book this is your life.

Excellent points, Jennie! There is no excuse for this country to have homeless people, hunger (which it doesn't want to admit, but is true), millions of people with no, or inadequate, healthcare, families unable to afford college educations, displaced people from natural disasters (Hurrican Katrina) -- and on and on and on -- WHEN WE ARE SPENDING $500,000 PER MINUTE to murder civilians. That doesn't even take into account the money we will spend to repair the very country we helped destroy. You are right -- it's UNAMERICAN to support this war!

Maybe if the governent stopped rescuing redundant and illegal businesses like HLS with our taxpayers money we could afford a better health service. Maybe the government should spend the £100million that they have invested in a new animal torture lab in Oxford on patient care instead of on unscientific animal abuse!!
Maybe in our health system was based on real medicine instead of animal tested pharmaceuticals there would be less need of so many beds to treat the lethal side effects of those drugs?
