Instructions were posted by Ingrid Visser. Her post says:

I'm asking all my friends to help make history. The New Zealand Government is about to vote on its Animal Welfare Act Amendment Bill. As an individual (from anywhere in the world), you can help prevent any cetaceans (whales, dolphins or porpoises) from being kept in captivity in New Zealand. You can make a simple personal on-line submission that tells the New Zealand Government why you think they should ban the keeping of cetaceans in tanks.

The CLOSING DATE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS 4th OCTOBER, 2013 (World Animal Day).

Points to make include;

(1) that animal welfare is very important to you;
(2) New Zealand no longer has cetaceans in captivity so now is a good time to make it illegal;
(3) there are plenty of places around New Zealand to see cetaceans in the wild (including from the shore, which is free);
(4) there is limited or no educational or conservation benefit to keeping cetaceans in captivity;
(5) the welfare of cetaceans in captivity is extremely compromised due to (among other things) small tanks, lack of natural environments and unnatural social groupings;
(6) removal of cetaceans from the wild is detrimental to the wild populations;
(7) captivity is very stressful for (and typically kills) cetaceans in captivity;
(8) any other points you’d like to raise. Please use your own words (and perhaps change the order of the points you wish to raise). The Government CAN IGNORE STANDARDISED SUBMISSIONS, BUT IT'S OBLIGED TO CONSIDER PERSONAL ONES

Instructions on how to make a submission:
1. Go to the New Zealand Government Parliament website BY CLICKING THE "VISIT SITE" BUTTON ABOVE
2. Scroll to bottom of page
3. Enter verification and 'submit'
4. Enter the fields with your submission (remember to use your own words)
