Rune stones are stones with runic inscriptions (or symbols from an alphabet formerly used in Germanic languages), used during the Viking Age, they were usually "raised" in honor for the deceased.
There are rune stones in Jelling, Denmark, called the Jelling Stones, that have the biography of the Danish king, Harald Blåtand, written on them. The inscriptions read:
"Harald, king, bade these memorials to be made after Gorm, his father, and Thyra, his mother. The Harald who won the whole of Denmark and Norway and turned the Danes to Christianity.
