I know only too well why primary care doctors are fed up. My daughter is a primary care doctor and she tells me that she spends more time on insurance paper work, than she sees of her patients, She and many young doctors are so sick of it all, they are thinking of moving to another country with a saner medical system. Then, where would we be?

Insurance paper work. That is the problem. We have been to too many doctors who will not accept insurance of any kind. The patient has to go thru the nightmare of filing paperwork to the insurance companies. They need to stop the stupidity withing the insurance companies. People deciding who will get paid for what. Most of these idiots do not have a clue. One company would not pay for the anethesia for the patient's bypass surgery! Hello? Anybody home? Then, when the patient finally files to the insurance company, some doctors file too, after telling the patient they would not. Something has to change and also clean up the mess within the insurance companies. Doctors work long hard hours, patients suffer too worrying who will pay. Especially, when the patient is paying through the nose for health insurance. It isn't just the doctors, it is the patients too. Clean up insurance companies, get qualified people who know more about the medical field to work for them. Umm retired medical personnel might work, who better to know the ins and outs.

Yes, I have been hearing it for years and it gets worse each year. And in a few years, they will expand the number of different billing codes. Thousands of different codes just for a migraine. Just thinking about it is giving me a headache.

...read it.....and obamas' govt. healthcare reform proposal says..."We are going to cut billions from medicare etc." well the 'primary care physicians' where i work in the medical field in ct. are closing their practices and retiring early in droves...why(?) you may ask...well as i have seen it from the inside some are paid 80 to just about 68% for a visit or proceedure vs private health insur. carriers.....and many are not paid for at least 6 to 10 mos out...ha(!)...and this is 'GOVERVNMENTALLY MANAGED'......many of these primary care phys. are way beyond burn-out due to being over-loaded with patients. some of the doctors i know work at least six days a week, 4 or 5 of those days until midnight, and are "on call" round the clock at least 2 or 3 nights a week, many no longer accept new patients...also many specialists no longer accept medicare or medicaid patients because of the shoddy work our 'GOVT.' systemically already does.................soooooo, as this physician is saying in the editorial,...and i ask you all...do you really want_ A TOTAL HEALTH CARE REFORM---DICTATED CONTROL_by the govt. now in place...as is found and stated in 600 to 1400 pages (before congress n' senate right now)...for "you, your children, your family,......those you care for and love?

...okey dokey there Care2 moderators...guess ya just didn't like what i wrote in my continued post ie "obamies health care reform"...so after a nicely and carefully worded comment you decided to DELETE MY COMMENT...which to me... tells me...YOU R NOT REALLY CAPABLE of thinking in the REAL WORLD...btw that is and shall be.....but,your perception will continue to drag you down...you betcha' ......and...but i'll getcha'... beware of the thorn in yer' side...cause it will be me (!)....anyway folks i was just talkin' about the idiocy of what this govt. has planned for everyone in this country...ya either see it...(and i know some of this has to be addressed) or ya don't !...guess tha' "LERKERS" r out there in full force ta nite... their BAD (!)... Insurance paperwork is one thing, but I have talked to several doctors about this very subject lately (and sat with 2 at our local Townhall), and all said they were most fed up with Medicare and the associated paperwork and lack of proper reimbursement. If you read the article of course this doctor mentions this. And of course some insurance will only pay at the "Medicare" rate as well. This only gets worse if we turn the whole system into "Medicare."

I already see this in this small town. Too many patients, not enough primary care doctors. Most have went into speciality fields because the money is much better. Yet, we are left fighting to try and find a PCP that can treat us for the flu, blood pressure and so forth.

Doctors should be free to practice and dispense, and not subjected to so many rules of do's and dont's
