IDIOTS! All of them! Yhe only equitable bill would eliminate the cadillac plan enjoyed by our ELITE ruling class in Washington and offer them the same options they offer us. Why should WE pay to keep these asswipes healthy?

They are trying to use this to overturn Roe vs Wade that is their plan! What happened to Seperation of Church and State????? Whay are the Catholic Bishops interferring with are Government and how can this be going on still???? Besides the Catholic Bishops and the Vatican are all perverted child molestors and have no right whatsoever to tell women what they can and cannot do with their bodies because they are evil LIARS the whole lot of them. They do not represent God or anyone else they are merely guilty old men who hate anyone but men! This outrages me to know end and it must stop. I am so disgusted with this country I am thinking of moving to another country with at least some sane people who do not discriminate against anyone!!!! Thanks Cal

So why don't the Dems add the sentence they left out or amend the bill?

patricia lasek (317)
Tuesday March 16, 2010, 11:49 am
Johan, that's too easy. They have so many riders attached already that they don't know their asses from holes in the ground. For that matter, neither do the GOP (goofy old poops).

Keep the politicians out of the bedroom. A veryu persnal decision. This is about HEATH CARE, not Abortion!

Patricia, the elites running our country on our dime are too good to take the same healthcare they are forcing on us. They should be made accept it as we are as good as they are and we do pay their salaries.

patricia lasek (317)
Tuesday March 16, 2010, 1:44 pm
Earline, actually most of us are a lot better than them. We have had to prove our worth and earn a living. They have never done an HONEST day's work in their lives.

The war against Roe v Wade is unending! These fundamental nutcakes are attempting to dictate OUR reproductive freedoms and representatives are pandering to them.

(Can you tell I'm angry?)

That is a melicious lie and I resent it.

***In a rush to appease them, moderate Democrats agreed to back the liberals on another front: community health care. Liberals wanted to expand the reach of community health centers, which have provided low-cost health care to people in underserved areas since the 1960s. And they wanted the health care bill to commit $7 billion for these health centers. The moderates agreed, and new language was hurriedly added to the Senate bill.***

This is exactly why we did not want it rushed. You get things like this that gum up the works. They only have themselves to blame.

To Tierney G, to paint all "Catholic Bishops and Priest", with the same brush shows what a small minded person you are.Not all men from the cloth are molesters or perverts only a small minority and not all these men from the cloth that abuse children are catholic.Maybe you should get your facts right before making such unjust and shameful comments. You want to escape people that discriminate, what a hypocrit! did you not just do that?"Discriminate".

The Exorcist for the Vatican was on CNN tonite. He said "The devil is living in the Vatican."
Now that we know his physical address I guess this puts the matter to rest.

Linda, defend the church if you feel you must but the damage is already done. Even the pope will not be untouched by scandal. A poor representative for life indeed when child abuse is the major product of the church. The abortion agenda will cost millions their lives if healthcare fails. I guess after one is born they have no further right to life. Thats the message I get.

To polarize the climate in this way was a gamble. Something the church should not be involved in. (gambling) They put all of us up for collateral to cover the bet. That is not just wrong. Its immoral. Bet with your own assets or stay home.

First, linda b. if you are the memeber of of a weathly and economically and politically powerful international cult that operates as a tax exempt religion and a recognized foreign nation, with a long long history of not only protecting, which was one the current Pontifs major jobs before election, but moving predator pediphiles to fresh hunting grounds again and again, diplomatically sequestering evidence and the accussed from law enforcement and even promoting some to higher status with appointments to prestigious Cathedrals and churches, has no qualms about punishing innocent foster children, the poor, the homeless for political gain, not to mention thousands of years of murder and torture and abuse of native populations, if you were a true christian of faith you would look elsewhere for a less disreputable, less crimal protecting, less violent, less prone to using the poor and innocent for political blackmail/extortion as a means of service to Christ and not an international mega corproation/church. When one knowingly serves an evil religious empire and seeks not service of the same God and the same Christ from the same Bible elsewhere then you are either evil or too weak of spiritual belief and convivctions to be of consequence or use to Christ, God or all of his children.
Tierny, you are right! The Christian Taliban of America, and all of its members from the Pedophile Proctecting Pontif, to the Bishops punishing the innocent for political ends, to the signers of the Manhattan Declaration, to those that are editing all the liberal language and ideals from the Bible, to the Christian Terrorist jihadi clinic bombing, aicd throwing doctor assassins, to the Family/Fellowship Cult members most notably Stupak and Pitts, are lying through their teeth about the non-existant repeal of the Hyde Amendment that does not change federal law regarding federal funding for abortions to get their theocracy into US law, but only for those who are not rich enough to just pay for abortions out of pocket when they want one, despite the Constitution of the United States of America guaranty of freedom of religiion. The Abortion Lie is also of particular use to the Repugnicans and their corporate owners to maintain the status quo to ensure and protect their profiteering at the expense of the American people in lives (at least 45,000 deaths per year), pain and suffering due to denied coverage or refusal to pay, economic disaster for families that are forced into bankruptcy (now at a rate that puts medical cost as the cause for more that 51% of all personal bankruptcies), also the larger and larger chunk of the American economy that has to be diverted to paying the insurance corporations and the treatment of the uninsured and all that will grow as each and every year the profiteers of the Health Insurance Cartel with its anti-trust protection continues to increase it profits with its rate hikes and denials, you know the real death panels. And in a direct way the opposition to Health Care Reform and medical insurance for all is a denial of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness also guaranteed by the Constitution, as the opposition is literally killing people, there can be no freedom or liberty when you are to sick to get out of bed let alone work. and just how happy can one be with a treatable illness that you can not afford to treat, or the bills from saving your child or spouse's lives takes your home and your health and job! The Repugnican-Christian Taliban-Corporate Alliance seeks more power and more profit and they are quite ready. willing and able to sacrifice American lives and the American economy to fill their pockets and put their religious ideologies in place to create a new Theocratic Corprooate State of America and flush the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the Un-redacted Word of God, not to mention all the lives, valor and courage of all the American military personel that have fought for America and defended of the Declaration of Independence. the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights not a Theocratic Corproate State, right down the sewer!

If it's Legal, it should be Covered! Tierney is right "They are trying to use this to overturn Roe vs Wade that is their plan!" Without even Needing to Overturn Roe v. Wade, preventing women from being insured for abortions is effectively the same thing.

Linda to support any pedophile is showing your a sick minded person that should look into your own life and butt out of mine!!You are prolonging the agony. Women and children like you should boycott the church that would teach em get them in their wallets. You are just a female pawn in thier game!

Maybe the lesson is that you shouldn't draft major highly-partisan legislation in a rush, in the dark of night, behind closed doors, with special interest lobbyists peeking over your shoulder just so the President can have his legacy?

They should scrap this 2,300 page monstrosity and start over with common-sense reforms.

This church could show itself in a good light, if it stop hiding from the facts and give up all the bad people. The Pope seats on millions and millions of pounds, money that could be used for good in this world. Why do they not do this can some one tell me?

patricia lasek (317)

Yes, Jaffery. Scrap the billand come up with simple legislation which treats everyone (including Legislators) the same. A single plan for ALL American citizens! No special care for the so-called Royality of this Country.

Well Tierney, You so missed the point, i was not protecting these monsters simply stating a fact that not all men of the cloth are molesters or abusers and not all of these people are catholic.I am catholic not a practising one i left the church as i did not agree with all of their teachings so again get your facts right. I will not reply to any more of your small mindedness.

All I can say is "single payer"...I truly believe it is the only way to put everyone on equal footing and eliminate this transfer of wealth to health insurance industry from the working poor and middle class.

The question was asked why the Dem's just don't add the sentence - they can't because reconciliation doesn't allow them to amend the original bill since it has already passed. That's why they will need reconciliation to pass the amendments that will be added and the Dem's have promised to add the sentence then. The House is suspicious that once they approve the original version the Senate won't add the sentence even though the Senate has tried to reassure the nervous Dem's in the House that they will. Nobody trusts nobody in that place! Paula Hannah

"The question was asked why the Dem's just don't add the sentence - they can't because reconciliation doesn't allow them to amend the original bill since it has already passed." Actually, I've read they CAN Amend - but Won't because Then they'd be opening up the Public Option part (which the House passed before & the Senate took out!) SO of Course they don't Trust the Senate (or each other)!

This Abortion crap is just a way of getting the spot-light off the Best (cheapest, sanest) way to Healthcare Reform - Single-Payer-Medicare-for-ALL!
If they have to use Religion, they will - they don't care at all what happens to people once they're born! They Prove That every day they Neglect us!

Wednesday March 17, 2010, 11:18 am
To Yvonne - I'm sorry but what you read is incorrect. Under reconciliation, changes can't be made to the Senate bill which didn't contain the Stupek amendment like the bill that past the House. If the Dem's want to use the reconciliation process the bill is voted on as originally written in the Senate and hopefully past. Then the plan is to amend that bill after it is past by the House. As far as I know the public option is still out there and Slate claims they have 51 votes in the Senate. Pelosi is the one who says the votes aren't there. I don't know who to believe - I just wish they would get on with it and get healthcare PASSED! Paula Hannah

I hope America gets a fair and equitable health care system for all; I was shocked to see a TV programme showing a charity providing basic health care to thousands of American people in a basketball stadium. Rushing something as important as this is not wise and I hope a solution is found. However looking at the discussions on the separation of Church and State, I have to say that your country is a democracy and everyone has the right to speak and protest including ordinary voters, unions, activists, well paid lobbyists and surely this includes Church representatives if they too have a concern.
Though the Catholic Church has failed its children in the worst possible way and hopefully the people are being punished and the victims being helped and compensated, let us always, always remember that the other 97% of abuse happens in the home or by people known to the family. As with everything, if the focus gets heated and directed towards one group (though they did wrong), it makes it so easy to take your eye of the whole picture and thatís what the lobbyists, the money makers and the lawyers often want us to do.

hey Linda B and Ne l your are really missing the points altogether you just want to pick on someone I guess well It is free speech and I intend to use that. I say they are all branded as bad because they are all associated and one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. I can say whatever I want to as long as I do not offend anyone. You however calling me a "malicious liar" NEL is an attack on my character and I do not appreciate that. What are you working for the Pope or the Bishops? Stop calling me a liar.
Now to Linda B are you having a bad day Linda you have to pick on someone you do not even know??? Who is the small minded one here hmmmmmmmm!

No Tierney...I haven't missed anything. You said ***Catholic Bishops and the Vatican are all perverted child molestors *** that is offensive to me and all Catholics. So, you have offended many people with that lie. My initial comment stands.

Tierney G (381)

NE L these were supposed to be men of God. They were supposed to be pure. If any of them stands with this disgraceful church now they are associating themselves with the devil. Why don't you see that? They have hurt many different groups of people over the years and discriminated against women children and minorities. They ccover up their sins hide them from public. If I were a priest as soon as I found out about the first rape of a child I would have left. They do not have the decency to stick up for those children who will be scarred for life because of this. How can you ever discard this and say it is alright? Shame on you! They are ALL wrong and ALL in this together and none of the good ones have taken a stand against this evil . I am by having left. I could care less if you want to be associated with perverts and pedophiles, women haters, bigots. if God is anything like this I would rather go to hell I have no respect for them or people who defend them regardless That is where I stand!!!
Who is the liar here?

BREAKING -- Reconciliation bill posted
UPDATED: The 153-page bill makes a number of changes to the Senate bill. The highlights:

--Increases the tax credits for middle-income families who buy insurance.

--Reduces the penalty for not buying insurance from $750 to $695. But the bill also requires some people to pay a share of their income as a penalty and that number was raised from 2 percent to 2.5 percent.

--It closes the gap in Medicare prescription drug coverage by 2011 and gives seniors who fall into the gap this year a $250 rebate.

--It eliminates the Cornhusker Kickback and covers 100 percent of the increased Medicaid costs of all states until 2016 and decreases each year thereafter.

--Requires that doctors that care for Medicaid patients be reimbursed at the full rate.

--Spends $250 million to fight waste, fraud and abuse.

--Delays and blunts the tax on high-end insurance plans in keeping with the deal Democrats struck with the labor unions. However, it does lower the index at which plans will be taxed, making it likely that more plans will be affected over time.

--Imposes a Medicare tax on unearned income for families making more than $250,000.

--Includes student loan reform.

So it seems they Could make changes after all..;)

Let's hope that our Representatives have the courage to do what's right for the country and not just what's 'right' for themselves. I feel I have been on high alert on the passage of healthcare reform for months and months. I hope I am celebrating the passage of healthcare reform legislation very soon because I'm getting exhausted waiting and waiting!! Paula Hannah
