A "postponement" is good. A complete cancellation would be better. I can't wait for the day when Oil Companies no longer have any political power over us. Let's get those electric cars, solar cells, wind turbines, clean energy operations up and running NOW. And let's start indicting and arresting people who've committed or abetted their crimes. C'mon, America Let's go!!!!!!

Instead of drilling for more oil they should look for ways to replace it. The time of oil is ending, and if they don't change they will have and end, too. Looking for the last bits of oil, spending more and more money, destroying more of nature only will cause damage, will postpone the end a bit, but this resource is almost finished already. It's high time for change!

Fantastic news. We need to keep the petitions directed at the feds to make them face the fact that we do not want any drilling in or around Alaska or the Arctic. Thanks Cal.

this is a start, but until they cancel plans entirely it won't be a total success... don't stop working against their plans....

Jason,

Shell and BP know drilling in the Arctic is a too risky. That’s why they’ve put their plans on hold. Now tell Secretary Salazar to take the next step and ban all offshore drilling in Alaska's Arctic waters for good.

Thanks to you I've got very exciting news from Alaska. Shell’s CEO just announced that the company will not be drilling offshore in Alaska’s Arctic waters in 2011.

This announcement comes just days after BP said that they were delaying their insane Liberty Island project until at least 2013.

Take a moment and enjoy this -- it belongs to you. These two victories would have been impossible if it wasn’t for the tens of thousands of phone calls, handwritten letters and emails from activists just like you.

And while you’re enjoying this one, take a minute to help keep the momentum going by sending Interior Secretary Salazar a message telling him to take the next step and ban ALL offshore drilling in Alaska’s Arctic waters. For good. Just click on the link below to take action:

I hope they just ban off-shore drilling permanently. They should use this time to get momentum going to institute this.
