With a government shutdown looking increasingly likely, Republicans are blaming Democratic leaders for failing to come to an agreement on government funding for the rest of 2011.

Please copy and paste the below letter which I sent to the GOP senator and representative from my state. I cannot call them my representatives because they do not represent americans, they represent corporations. edit as it seems fit and please send it to your representatives. It will take only a minute because we need to tell them we know what they are up to. I am also editing and sending it to Boehner.

I do not undertand why you think the nation does not follow the issues you are supposed to be addressing. We are not stupid, we can read and we can make informed decisions. Goose stepping to the GOP and Tea Bag Party line is not appropriate for working families. There seems to be no courage in the GOP. You spout canned messages which have no meaning. And while you are supposed to work for your constituents, your pandering to big business is common knowledge. You constantly tell us that your support of big business is good for the economy because they create jobs. This is not true and when I addressed the issue asking you to look at the facts I had sent (i.e. that the oil companies alone deleted 10,000 jobs while you gave them 400 billion in our tax dollars to subsides their activities), you told me it was to create jobs. What part of that message did you fail to understand? We do know you do not read the messages from your constituents, you get the subject and send pre-canned replies. You support big business because you are afraid not to. While you know the right thing to do, you refuse to do it.
Please view the 2 lists below or have your help print it and give it to you. This is public knowledge and is going out to every person on Care2.com, NPR, PBS and every other online organization so they understand that the GOP is not working in our best interest.

BRAVO, Helen! Great job! And thank you for permission to plagiarize your great letter - I will indeed steal parts of it for the two hard heads in my state. I'm weary of being blackmailed into doing whatever these doofs want - let 'em shut down - see how far they get with their agenda. We cannot expect change if we are not willing to demand it from the people who work for US - yes, they work for US. Would you keep any other employee who did what he wanted to do instead of what you wanted?

Thanks Cal for posting and Helen thank you for such a clear and educated response. Between Ryan's cuts and Walker's cuts at the State level we are totally screwed! There will be no safety net and nothing will be left for the people to grow their lives. This takes us passed Dickens and back to England before the magna carta.

If they do shut it down they will be cutting their own throats.

They are like spoiled little brats. I wish they would take their ball and go home. And stay there!

Agree with the FIRE THEM thinking. They are not doing their jobs.
Shut down. Stay down.
It's about time we we citizens get fed-up with all the nonsense and get pissed. (Pardon my vulgarities, or not.)
I am voting against all of my elected do-nothings.
