Sugar may seem innocuous enough, but sweet-toothed Western consumers could be fuelling conflict between poor farming communities and big business with every spoonful

Thanks for the report. Agree with the headline, "Big Business Spurs Class Warfare." Class war has almost always been a top-down endeavor despite what we are taught at school & in the media.

Use sugar made from beets. Sugar cane is a weapon against the poor.

UTTERLY INFURIATING! So this is what it comes to: As we gradually use up the planet, the poor farmers, tribespeople and villagers, who've always lived quiet little lives on their own ancestral lands and never bothered anybody -- get KICKED OFF their lands, get everything STOLEN from them, get their lives RUINED though they did nothing to deserve it. AND WHY? So the greedy can have more sugar, coffee, gold, diamonds, Burger Kings... you name it ... at ever lower prices, with ever-higher profit margins going to the criminals who stole the land and, of course, their stockholders. This is rampantly spreading all over the planet as we speak. What miserable, stupid, greedy, cruel wretches we humans be. To whoever coined the term "INTELLIGENT DESIGN," I have this question: Are you freakin nuts?

The CONSTANT growing of the world economies will be the death of Nature and eventually us too. We need a plague for the human plague so that the other 1 million + species can once again thrive!
