One Million Moms -- a project of the American Family Association -- is very angry at JC Penney because the Texas-based department store has hired Ellen DeGeneres as a spokeswoman.

One million moms need to get a life. That just my opinion, I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

To each their own-as long as someone does not try to force their way of life on me I don't care what they do as long as it does not harm anyone. It doesn't mean you are obligated to anything but respect someone elses beliefs as you would want them to respect yours. Bless all who love all mankind--we are all on Mother Earth together till the end.

Ellen has enough problems trying to justify her contract with Clairol - a huge corporation in animal research, while trying to get the American public to believe she believes in animal welfare.

"One million moms" are full of hate and hot air! I've sent a thank-you note to JC Penney and told them I'll definitely shop there. Ellen is a lovely, genuine and GENEROUS person. She doesn't deserve this crap!

Isn't there an expression about "one million people can't be wrong"?

Well, yeah, they can. Ladies, you're dinosaurs. See, you can't fire someone on the basis of who they find attractive. It's against the law and with good cause. It's the 21st century, ladies, and we're not going back to that worn out old stuff any more. Move on.

Noted! This is unbelievable! That is what is wrong with this country today. INTOLERANCE!! I was taught to love everybody. This smacks of the right wing agenda. Good for JC Penney! They aren't going to bow to the pressure of the wing nuts. If this is what is foremost on those one million mothers' minds....who is looking after their children. They could do a lot more good by standing with JC Penney and teaching their children tolerance. Seems like I am not alone in my distain for these women.

Isn't that One Million Moms just a title and there were probably 10 who protested. I guess gays and lesbians don't wear clothes!!!! or make up or any of the other thing that 'normal' people do. HA and double HA! When will people realize that we are ALL a part of this world and need desperately to accept diversity. When we are prejudiced against one kind of person, we are not being all that we can be. What right does anyone have to dictate how another should love or live? Or what they wear? For crying out loud!!!! Live and let live, you will be a happier person and maybe make a contribution to society.

Good for JC Penney. I think Ellen is fantastic. She's warm, witty, and very generous and does a great job as a spokesperson for anything. If those mom's want to criticize anyone they should put their weight behind the unhealthy images of women in music videos or 'high' fashion. Or the completely bizarre and somewhat pornographic Tots & Tiaras.

Claudia O (73)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 1:36 pm
This is ridiculous. Ellen is a great entertainer, a loving person and it is not anyone's business who she loves.

Dana R (2)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 1:46 pm
For every one million such ignoramuses there are at least ten million who think the opposite. Such prejudiced boneheads only give me aa positive position of JC Penney so long as they continue to keep Ellen.

I have no tolerance for those who are intolerant! I wonder what will happen when one of those mothers of OMM have a child who come out and say "Mom, I'm gay"! Saw a GAY comedian on TV last night, Jason Stuart... he joked "If you're against gays, tell the straights to stop having gay babies" (and if you think about it, he's right!). He also said gays should be allowed to marry a same sex partner... so straights won't have to worry about marrying someone who turns out to be gay! (Poor Liza!!) Of course those comments were by a gay man and meant as humor... the problem is those out there who aren't joking and who try to harm others by pushing their personal beliefs on others. I am a Christian and I love and respect Ellen and know that Jesus came here to teach us how to love others as He loves them, and not judge - but if you do feel you have to judge, judge by all the good and great things someone does for others who are hurting and suffering rather than what they do in the privacy of their own home based on our constitutional freedoms.

Phyllis P (237)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 2:10 pm
I may not participate in the lifestyle she lives, however it doesn't change who she is, as a person. She is a good entertainer, a lover of animals (inspite of the Clairol endorsement @ Allan - thanks for pointing that out) and she has done good things for people. I thought that is what we measure a person by, their contributions to society, not who they love. I too am a Christian, and I am not the judge. That is God's job and I can't believe that He is holding anything against Ellen. Shame on you, you million idiot moms.

Debbie G (306)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 2:17 pm
I am in total support of Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi. Some people need to get a life, learn tolerance, and quit hatred.

Gee, look at all those moms who are jellious and envy Ellen. Bravo tomCat, Fire J C Penny's, Mervins, boycott Sear,s, Sakes Fifth Ave and lets see if Ellen give away free stuff on her show that the greedy women only show up for.

One Million MORONS needs to dissolve into its bigotted individual idiots. I have far more respect for Ellen Degeneres, Alan Turing, Lady Gaga, the Triangle Theatre Players, JC Penney's, and other LGBT-friendly or participant people and businesses than I do for a million houseflies. Release the Spiders! Down with homophobia, it's un-American!

Why don't these One Million Moms get busy and make one million school lunches (that's just one each!) and donate them to their nearest program for disadvantaged school kids so they can have a decent meal? Or how about they each donate some $$ to an animal shelter? Why don't they volunteer at a library so the libraries don't close for lack of staff or people to keep literacy programs operating?

Or why don't they go back to school and learn that gay people also wear shoes? Unless they're basing their crazy nonsense on "The Flintstones" who were having a "gay old time" - and of course, they always went barefoot, even in winter...

Ann B (65)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 3:31 pm
Get with the program, 1million moms. Good for Ellen and J.C. Penney. This is the 21st century. Volunteer your time for some good instead of your petty grievances.

Christopher F (82)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 3:34 pm
Well they are right that Ellen has nothing in common with the "one million moms": Eleen is rich, witty, intelligent, independent, stands for what is right over what is the latest "trend" and has her own opinions rather than parroting the hate-filled rhetoric of a fascist religious group.

I think that people should call up and write JCP and let them know that they should keep her and that the opinions of a bunch of hate-mongers mean nothing in the real world.

1 million moms teaching their children hate. No wonder we have hate crimes in schools with mothers like these on the loose. If I had the choice of Ellen or one of these mothers as a friend I would pick Ellen. She is by far the better person, she doesn't teach Hate.

Sunday February 5, 2012, 5:32 pm
Thanks for the article, Cal...can't send you another green star yet. Would if I could. Penneys is on the other side of town, and I'm going out of my way to shop there this week...taking the family, too. Have always liked Ellen and can't understand those bigots. I don't believe there really are a million of them, either....probably computer generated. ThePowersThatBe are really getting scared of us "humanists." They're pulling out all the stops on every front they can; but I have faith that those of us with real love in their hearts will prevail.

Walt G (2)

It never ceases to amaze just how INTOLERANT people who claim to espouse 'tolerance' are. What 'tolerance' seems to TRULY that they're "tolerant" of only those with whom they agree, because the supposed 'intolerance' displayed by those 'million moms' is more than matched by the intolerance of the 'tolerant' posting here.
Bottom line...JC Penney has the right to name whoever they want as a 'spokesperson'. Those who disagree...are EQUALLY free to take their shopping dollars do what Care2 members do every day of the week....gather together to express their opinions...and attempt to change this case, JC Penney's choice.

The store can make a choice....and IF enough people disagree....that will hurt them financially...that's democracy in action....or....the law of the marketplace.

What IS the level of hypocrisy exemplified by those who claim to be 'tolerant'....except to those with whom they disagree....those they 'JUDGE' as 'intolerant'....while still claiming to walk the 'High Road' morally and ethically.

Diane Piecara (14)

I am sad that judgement and intolerance exist. A study from Canada found that people that were intolerant, conservative, and racist actually had a lower IQ than those that are more open minded. Maybe that explains it.

Shan D (49)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 6:30 pm
@Diane P. - I didn't need a study to tell me that - both our Federal and my provincial governments are run by intolerant, conservative, racist morons and we've known that for years.

These "million moms" should go make a sammich and stay out of things they clearly do not understand.

Yvonne W (229)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 6:48 pm
One Million Moms???? Maybe 18 Reich-wing Evangelical bitchs...c'mon JC Penny, Ellen has been a spokesperson for make-up, etc. for years! NOBODY cares that she's gay!

Mary D (64)
Sunday February 5, 2012, 11:34 pm
A person's sex life is their own business. There is no right or wrong either way. People deserve to be happy and fulfilled in their private life - and so they should be. I agree with you, Edith; those people need to "get a life." And it's their lives and if it makes them happy. let them live the way they want. What was it that Jesus said? "Judge not, that ye be not judged." There are thousands of topics in this world that are far more interesting than what somebody else does in the privacy of their bedrooms.

OMM and OMD(One Million Dads) are hate groups that were founded as fronts by AFA, American Family Association a hate group). If you lance the boil that is OMM you will find that you can not even establish how many of them there are, you can not find any proof that they are either moms or for that matter even women, the same is true for OMD. They are professionally run on-line hate mongers, they are the Christian Taliban of America in June Cleaver drag preaching homophobia, Anti-Choice, and preaching a morality that would have been a perfect fit for the Inquisitions or the Salem Witch Trials.

"One Million Moms" huh? Catchy name but how many members do they really have? Isn't this the same group that tried to keep Chaz Bono off of "Dancing With the Stars" because he's transgendered? That really showed how much influence they have. JCP would be foolish to pay any attention to this group.

I would note that "One Million Moms" has a related group "One Million Dads" that doesn't seem concerned with the Ellen/JCP connection. Instead "One Million Dads" current issue is with the Fox Network for allowing the F-word to slip out once from a crew chief during a NASCAR race. "One Million Moms" doesn't seem to be concerned with that issue. It's a 'guy thing' I guess.

The American Family Association is designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for this very reason. Their whole existence is about hating gays. I don't mean to sound sexist, but personally, I think these 1 million ladies need to get laid. And let gay people do whatever they do.

I agree with Mary D. As said in the Bible "Judge not, lest ye be judged." We will all be judge in the end, by God. No one else s judgement is of our concern (or shouldn't be). Those mothers are full of hatred and are teaching their children that, which is sad. Hate is the worst four letter word in the world (of English). I may not understand other sexual preferences, but I support their choice, or actually it's not a choice, I believe it's a born thing. Be tolerant people. These Moms or whoever is judging, are probably doing something that they could be judged for. We all speak to God in the end. Thanks, Cal. I hope JC Penney has seen all of this and they've just moved up a notch in my eyes.

One Million Moms, which claims to be "the most powerful tool you have to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at your children,"

Are they for real???? What do these claims(ie; immorality, violence, vulgarity and even profanity) have to do with homosexuality... there is no causality! This movement should be sued for discrimination, bigotry and sheer stupidity... those are the values they have to offer their kids??? Then, god help us.

On some online article Ellen spoke out on this..And hear is what she had to say..
In her monologue Wednesday, DeGeneres addressed the controversy for the first time, and said, “Normally I try not to pay attention to my haters, but this time, I’d like to talk about it because my haters are my motivators.”

“Not that anyone’s counting… for a group that calls themselves ‘One Million Moms,’ they only have 40,000 members on their (Facebook) page,” she added.

Please watch video at the link below.. to see what else she had to say..

Good for Ellen..good for JC Penny..
