The ban on the importation of illegal wood has been an important step in the conservation of forests around the world. It has resulted in a decrease of illegal logging and thus preservation of threatened species and endangered habitats.

Making companies responsible for their supply chains may be the only way to transform practices within those supply chains.

Signed. I think there was an "so called outrage" about this issue from the other side. They were saying that Gibson Guitars are made in the USA. True. Then it went on to say that we Americans are not allowing the Gibson company to import wood for their guitars. The issue missed by them was the fact that the wood imported was banned by the USA as coming from endangered forests. No one is asking Gibson to stop making guitars, it is just requiring Gibson to use wood that has been approved as not harming the forests by over cutting from fragile forrested areas.

At our hardware store there's a burn pile. there are lots of pallets that people use for compost piles. My husband has gotten several of them and knowing wood as he does he's noticed a lot of tropical woods that are part of the pallets. This is a crime. I've signed but I know there's companies out there still making pallets with tropical woods. I've signed the petition.

Why are penalties not being enforced? Why do we have to petition Congress to make sure the ban is being implemented? Do we have to hold the hand of Congress and push them EVERY TIME?

Rational thinking demands that we recognize, that you simply, cannot keep increasing the population of our planet, and at the same time, eradicate our forests, one by one.

Is this one of those, 'You never miss the water till the well runs dry'?

Absolutely no reason why these people shouldn't be fined, at the very least. Personally, I think they should be jailed also.

They should not just be fined this deforestation causes massive climate changes and they are a threat to mankind and the safety of all beings on this planet. One wrong clip our cures are gone forever ntm they are stealing the homes of wildlife. These people need to spend time in jail as well!
