With all its environmental hazards, I am surprised the British went along with this.

Having come across all the problems it's caused in the US the UK will now follow into those earth shaking scenarios. Madness!!!

I was born & raised in Lancashire, approx. 40 miles from Blackpool. l heard about the earthquakes from my folks, after I married a Canadian, & moved to the wilds of Ontario 22 years ago. My 1st thought, of course, was for the welfare of friends & family in Lancashire....I'd never heard of earthquakes in the UK, especially not 2 in the same area!! Interesting that the article was amended & Richter scale reading was removed ( I used to trust the Guardian, but NOT any more!) That concerns me almost as much as the whole article.
It's dangerous & expensive, but the dimwits are going ahead with it...what's wrong with this picture????

This is not good news - having experienced earthquakes on several occassions, once in the UK (in Lincolnshire which is on the Eastern side of England) I am very concerned that anything should be done which might cause them to happen more often. This has to be partly offset by the need for natural gas and the fact that Russia, where a lot of the UK's gas currently comes from, can all too easily used it to hold us to ransom - huge price hikes the year before last brought this concern to fhe fore only too readily.

Yeah, I love the way that yet again, the voice of the Great British public will not be heard for the sound of a billion little cash registers... KER-CHING...KER-CHING...KER-CHING......$$$...

...and it's probably no coincidence that the word 'fracking'is used as a curse in Battlestar Galactica...

Can't believe the U.K. would follow in the footsteps of us "Bloody Yanks"
& do something as stupid & irresponsible as Fracking. I know the Brits
must be just about as happy with their gov't as we are with ours. I guess
once again, money trumps even the fairest & most beautiful of Isles.

The contamination of the water is of grave concern, but the seismic activity is of equal concern. How long do they think that they can continue to disturb the deep recesses of the earth without serious consequences? Something is going to blow.
