Simply, a television icon has passed; a face as recognized as Jackie Gleason and Lucille Ball's.

Oh, dear! I can still hear the theme music for BANDSTAND in my head and remember all those "new" artists debuting their "new" songs!

First Don Cornelius, now Dick Clark. So many artists owe it all to them.

I really thought Dick Clark would live longer than 82, even after the stroke. New Year's Eve just won't be the same. So long, Dick.

Dick Clark got everybody rockin'! He was an unpretentious, humble charismatic guy who just loved music and brought people together.
I would say that his t.v. show American Bandstand was instrumental in bringing two races together - the black and the white !
Kids loved him and those who were lucky enough to grow up under his 'umbrella' learned a few things ... those 'things' that epitomized character all of which were wrapped up and handsomely packaged in THE MAN - DICK CLARK.
I'll miss you and I send prayers for your family and everyone who loved you!
Your Legacy lives on in our hearts and minds Dick Clark.
Thanks for the music, for daring to end racism in America through music, and just for hangin' out with us for a little while.
Some might say it was a 'slice' ... and ... yes ... it was !

Rosemary R. said it all. An icon, a giant, an innovator in the rock and roll story, to me he always looked so young no matter his age (until the last one or two decades) I thought he'd never die. A classic line from teenagers on his shows was 'It's got a good beat and it's easy to dance to".
