NOW that Putin has been re-elected, people are marching in the thousands? My grandmother had a saying, which she got from her mother who was from White Russia - "If we had nothing to complain about, what would we talk about?".

For Russians, this is quite substantial.

These protests may have more longevity than I'd originally thought.

I'll be watching with interest. Thank, Cal.

I guess the stability he was too bring was just a dream. I hope he does not believe that his victory in March gives him a genuine mandate to rule, time shall tell.

Well as of January 1st, 2012 Russia's population was estimated to be: 143030106. I'm afraid a few thousand artists are not going to have much effect on what happens in that country. Their major export at the time seems to be weapons, I don't expect that to change under the Putin Presidency. I'd like to be disappointed and see him bring forth all manner of democratic reforms. But I'm not holding my breath.

Russia is looking better and better! I wish our own rulers were half as enlightened as Putin.
