Midwestern rural communities are being devastated by energy companies searching for a form of sand to use in their destructive fracking operations elsewhere in rural America.

This sounds terrible. I think that the world needs changes to the economic system, to stop destructive activities like fracking. I like the ideas of CASSE at , for creating a more environmentally sustainable economic system. I encourage everyone to consider signing the position statement at that website.

As I read the article, I kept wondering what role Scott Walker played in this environmental disaster. I got my answer in the following paragraph:

"In 2010, Cathy Stepp, a confirmed anti-environmentalist who had previously railed against the DNR [Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources], belittling it as 'anti-development, anti-transportation, and pro-garter snakes,' was appointed to head the agency by now-embattled Governor Scott Walker who explained: 'I wanted someone with a chamber-of-commerce mentality.' ”

We all know that "someone with a chamber-of-commerce mentality" is someone without morals, ethics or a conscience. Leave it to the "Bastard Out of Wisconsin" to hire the fox to guard the henhouse! He serves his Koch brother masters well...
