They'll sue them and then continue to reap the taxes from tobacco sales. Don't hold your breath waiting for the government to give up the billions of dollars in tax revenues gained from tobacco sales, it just won't happen any time soon.

"“The tobacco companies knew the harm they caused,” Bolduc told reporters, according to QMI. “The government of Quebec has a very good case.”

+++++++++++++ GOOD! GO GET 'EM!

I hope they bankrupt the industry! The addictive, cancer-causing product they hawk is killing people, hurting families, and driving up the cost of health care everywhere! My father smoked 3-4 packs per day. He died at the age of 47. I watched the television coverage of tobacco's CEO's testifying before Congress that "they didn't know that nicotine was addictive." For once, they didn't look smug or arrogant. They looked and behaved as though their tongues had been removed --which is something that happens to so many people because of their addiction to tobacco products.

Go Quebec! What's governments lose in taxes can be regained in savings to government-sponsored health care.

When are they going to start going after the Alcohol Cartel which causes over $220BILLION in costs in the US alone each year and kills an estimated 1400 young people? Why the silence on this deadly, addictive drug?

Alcohol kills worldwide 6.5 times as many people as ALL other drugs combined, including herion, crack and marijuana etc.

A UK report last year found that alcohol is the most destructive drug to the individual and society than any other drug. It causes several cancers, damages the nervous system, harms the brain, causes bleeding ulcers and destroys the liver and pancreas and it is involved in 50% of all murders, 33% of all suicides and child abuse, is cause of a large percentage of divorces, family breakups, rapes, and all kinds of social problems, not to mention the huge cost of all the people born with some terrible birth defects from drinking mothers.

Over 70% of USAmericans say alcohol has negatively affected their lives.

When are our supposedly concerned governments going to start talking about and acting against the elephant in the room.

Smoking doesn't cause people's part of their brain that regulates responsible actions to blackout. People don't smoke a cigarette then kill people with their cars, beat their child or spouse, lose control and kill someone, puke in the streets or destroy their family and career. Alcohol does.

If people need some kind of drug to have a good time then maybe it's time they got some psychological help.
