It seems Republican state legislators in North Carolina really, really don't want low-income women to have access to contraception and STD prevention/treatment.

I's sure hate to be that Democratic Rep that pushed the 'Yes' button by mistake.

The decision to use birth control to avoid a pregnancy or prevent a sexually-transmitted disease is a decision that should be made only by the parties participating in the act. Why outside parties think they have the right to deprive women of safeguards that protect their health and their reproductive choices is something I can't understand. These individuals need to ask themselves WHY they feel the need to interfere in someone else's life and WHAT makes them think they have the right to.

With 335 million people in this overpopulated land one would think these knothead lawmakers would be passing out the PILL like candy.
Women are still being treated like slaving servants of years gone by!! These small brained bigshots need to stay out of womens personal choices.

Did they increase the funding for teenage pregnancy programs and for Medicaid maternity and infant services, etc., to have made prudent budget decisions here?

You know, if it was the men who could get pregnant instead of the women-this would never happen. Ah, for the power to make every male in the south or anywhere else that backs this sort of nonsense wake up about 3 months pregnant (no abortion for you!), you would be able to hear their screams of Noooooooooooooo! all over the country or maybe even to the moon. Dang, where is a decent magic wand when you really need one? Sigh.......

What else would one expect from a state where the House Minority Leader Paul Stam referred to gay people as "queers" and "fruitloops."

Or when Governor Perdue created a $10 million fund with the intent of paying each sterilized woman 50 thousand..The plan passed the North Carolina House..but was struck down in the Senate..where GOP lawmakers refused to even consider it..

Pathetic bunch of goons that are so narrow minded..not to mention control freaks..

Thanks Cal..

"House Minority Leader Paul Stam referred to gay people as "queers" and "fruitloops."

Dee,that was in 2010. Now, it's now even worse than you thought. Stam is now House Majorioty leader. Far from being career-ending bigotry, it got him a promotion.

Day after day since moving to North Carolina (from New England ) I become ever more convinced that I have entered some kind of time warp! I did not think that in the year 2012 I would read such nonsense.
Did I fall asleep and time reversed itself back to the "dark ages?? HELP!!

I apologise to those that may be offended by my next sentence, unless of course you are a NC legislator perpetrating this crime, this war on women.

May a diseased camel walk up your nose backwards and fart!

Maybe that will cause you to think next time!

Pray tell, what the hell were the Democrats thinking when they chose North Carolina as the place for the Democratic Convention. Seems a bit asinine to me.
