General Wesley Clark identifeid the American agenda for regime change following Iraq. This was that it would next occur in Libya, then Syria and then Iran and you can watch his speech about this on youtube. This means it is not just coincidence that shortly after Gaddaffi started accepting currencies other than the USD for oil, a western backed force overthrew him and many of the fighters have subsequently moved onto Syria..
Because of this it would be reasonable to assume that whoever ends up ruling Libya will only do so as a puppet of the Americans and this will also be the case in Syria and Iran. This may or may not turn out to be a good thing, but probably will see oil companies continue to profit at the expense of the Libyan people.

Why not at least acknowledge this angle in your reporting of this story? The assumption in this article that anything fair and democratic either occurred or is going on in Libya seems one sided and a bit naive. The story of the anglo-american involvement in the arab spring needs to be told.

Thanks cal for posting the link to the INS article by Mel Frykberg. I certainly hope that Mahmoud Jibril and his party the NFA can break the trend so Libya can have a secular government. Read and noted.
