This seems a wise move. From what I've heard, no-one in Cuba has any money to repay anyone for anything anyway.

Thanks Cal for the Yahoo link to the Ticket article by Olivier Knox. Read and noted. This is definitely a political move on Obama part to shore up his support in the Cuban-American community.

American Cubans need to "get over it". We need to get into the current century and open up ties to Cuba. Continuing a policy of stupidity helps no one and accomplishes nothing of any importance.

We should exile Obama to Cuba and force the country to execute the Castro family and all Communists, should have done so back around 1990.

more stupidity from fred krohn, knowing absolutely nothing about the history of cuba and the murderous dictator batista who forced young girls to be prostitutes, had over 90% of the people of cuba starving and illiterate and basically enslaved. i take it you have never been to cuba.

i find the united states policy of lawsuits against a government practicing eminent domain over lands that would benefit the people as a whole to be absolutely hilarious!!! kind of contradictory to what occurs in the united states today, doncha think? the global backlash the united states would experience for the hypocrisy! LOL...

"american property" in another country...interesting concept, especially when the people of the country had nothing to say over who took what resources from their backyard and gave the cuban people no compensation for those resources. now, correct me if i am wrong...the united states was founded by throwing a government out that practiced taxation without representation, demanded the rights to all the rich resources of the lands and subservience of the people who came to live here.

the cubans threw out a dictator that practiced slavery, kept all the rich resources for himself and his close tight knit circle. so what was ok for the united states to do, other countries do not have the same right to throw out their dictator. this line of thinking is hypocrisy at its finest. critical thinking is completely absent here.

does the bay of pigs ring a bell? who was in charge of that fiasco? how about bush sr ring a bell? does anyone else here besides me know that bush sr was part of the inner circle of batista's that was maintaining an impoverished state of the cuban people? that he had contracts with batista to control the sugar industry and the oil industry? does anyone else know that castro attempted to re-write the contracts in order for the cuban people to benefit from the rich resources that were being extracted from cuban soil? did you know that bush sr refused to re-write the contracts? so, castro nationalized all of cuba's resources. i believe this joke of a lawsuit was born of bush and war criminals inc in order to attempt to have the last laugh. i don't think any court would uphold this ridiculous lawsuit because then you want to know how many businesses in the united states would be subject to the same lawsuits worldwide? this is truly hilarious!

Cathrine, Bay of Pigs invasion was launched April 1961, less than 3 months after John F. Kennedy took office.

Noted and Thanks Cal. Recently re-read Martin Cruz Smith's "Havana Bay". While certainly a novel and fiction, many of the aspects of Cuba's citizen's ideas and limitations of living/thinking, leader's paranoid ideas/actions, and influencing international politics, should be regarded as particles of truth. Another "Island Paradise" gone to the (we) humans. In a slightly different manner than some.

and my point was the bay of pigs invasion was conducted by the cia, which was designed by bush and had been in the planning long before jfk was elected. after the bay of pigs failed, jfk said "no more".

Another pre-election hollow attempt to win the Latin vote.As the article says, Obama will deal with Cuba, but it will not take on China.
