Namibia's commercial seal hunt is the second-biggest in the world after Canada, and this year hunters hope to club 80,000 pups and shoot 6,000 bulls.

According to the article, "However, Bell believed that a 2010 ban on seal imports by the European Union would raise awareness and considerably shrink the market for seal products. Other countries that have also banned seal products include the United States. 'We wish more countries could follow suit, that would be the only way to curb this practice,' said Bell."

What are we waiting for? Everyone must take the necessary steps to ban seal products in their countries. Please get the petitions started!

as long as any being lives in fear, hate, exploitation and death at the hands of man so shall all men live under this same threat, don't fool yourself no one is free as long as another is oppressed. withdraw your consent for as long as we agree to the small things we have agreed to the big ones, the pebble seems so small but its effects are far reaching
protect life, prosecute those that seek to destroy our shared home and our fellow beings
life has value beyond measure

TY for posting.

"There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action." ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“Until we have the courage to recognize cruelty for what it is -- whether its victim is human or animal -- we cannot expect things to be much better in this world. We cannot have peace among men whose hearts delight in killing any living creature. By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic delight in killing, we set back the progress of humanity.” ― Rachel Carson

Is Paul Watson still incarcerated? Without him free, is Sea Shepherd able to intervene? I saw their special on this seal massacre on Animal Planet.

It's frightening how ignorant the government is regarding the catastrophic ramifications of this cull and their unwillingness to stop the killing. They are decimating the populations of these animals in such a ruthless, counter-productive way.

Watching the baby seals wandering alone amongst hardly any seals left on the beach without their family members, searching for their mothers is so utterly heartbreaking. It made me cry. So unnecessary. So primitive and greedy and cruel and senseless.

Of course, like in Canada, the government will never agree with the public outrage.
