not so green or environmentally sound if you look closely at theiur practices. It's a good fit for Ithaca, a community of ageing hippies and others living outside reality.

TY. Everything we can do helps. . .

i was gathering the excess of dry and smashed pine cones with storm blown sticks and small branches for fire starters [weird storms this summer] ...a neighbor called out and asked me what was i doing in the heat of summer?! He then made fun of our hybrid [i don't even like to drive that trying to get off grid] and said he is a lowbrid and laughed...told him he has that part right...and didn't laugh! Point: keep doing whatever you can...i know he thinks about what i do...and over the years other neighbors are comfortable talking and going as green as they can who didn't used to be. It changes the energy and the spirit. . .

I think it is our responsibility in so many ways to live in harmony with the Earth and all creations. I have left my job in the city and currently live in an aspiring farm community in Oregon......no GMOs or fertilizers, we...humans need to take back their own independence from the government in foods we eat, our health practices and taking care of the Earth to provide clean air, water and soil......no fracking, or toxic dumping. I was involved with a project like this, in Western Australia, for 10 years. We were just about to put in infrastructure when the GFC hit, and we were unable to carry on.

Good news is, someone has bought the land and will develop it as we wanted to. We were very much ahead of our time, with solar power, recycled grey water, rainwater tanks and well-designed houses in clusters. They all had a north-facing block, (we are in Southern hemisphere) to take advantage of winter sun.

And it is not miles out in the country - sited in the hills, just 40 minutes from Perth, the capital city.

Wish us luck that it goes ahead as planned!
