This must stop. We humans must also stop overfishing other species. Eat less fish, more nuts and seeds ...

I hope that those fins become increasing lodged in the throats of all that consume this horrendous concoction, especially among government officials.

And i further hope that no one knows how to do the Heimlick maneuver when it happens.

It's deplorable, of course.

But how many pigs, cows, sheep, chickens etc are killed every year?

Another sad thing about this is they have to add chicken stock to give it flavour, I deeply regret to say I once tried this in my young foolish ignorant days.
The way they obtain the Fins is pure evil, cutting the Fin off then tossing the live Shark back in the water to die a very slow death after suffering the pain fear inflicted by evil Cretins.

Stop those from destroying our oceans. This is so sad. People take and take and never give back. Sharks are very important for the eco-system.

"the total worldwide shark fin catch to be three to four times what is legally reported"

The chinese typically lie through their teeth when confronted with their atrocities. The rest of the world needs to make them stop their destruction of the world's wildlife. If left up to them, they'll stop when there's nothing left.

Eating shark fin soup makes those idiots feel powerful. Some of them probably enjoying the feeling of contributing to an extinction. I hope that some of them at least will come to regret their part in that tragedy.

This is happening with even the increased awareness - no one has any excuse for creating a demand for this repugnant cruel slaughter. An International ban is required not only on the grounds of the diminishing numbers but on the gross cruelty involved to use one part of a magnificent animal. Even a dedicated carnivore can surely recognise the waste. The hedonistic behaviour of some people to dig their snouts into a bowl of outrageous cruelty is disgusting.I would wish it could choke them one and all.
