For many Sri Lankans, the effects of climate change can be summed up in one word: rainfall.

Sadly noted. We humans must reduce our climate changing emissions significantly, and quickly, Eat much less meat, drive and fly much less ...

Without water, no one or thing can live. We need to do something now.

"The last six months, with their merciless combination of scarce rainfall and blazing temperatures, have proved his statement to be true. The failure of the seasonal monsoon to deliver adequate amounts of rain have had a serious impact on lives, livelihoods and the economy."

This IS the exact pattern predicted by global warming scientists as they speak of the climate change produced by global warming. Too much water some places, too little others, and not in the usual places, wildly shifting weather, I'd say patterns but that would imply predictability and there isn't any. This IS the world we are living in, how anyone of conscience can still deny this is just beyond me. Let alone sit idly by while the chance to repair the damage we have wrought slips ever more quickly by us. And this is just the beginning.
