These are some courageous women. Two of my kids were punks (still are at heart), so I'm really hoping the best for these girls. Signed. Thanks, Cal.

This must be one of the best publicity stunts ever, since the whole world is talking about these girls. They knew the risks, because they are Russian after all, so they were counting on the worldwide media coverage to boost their musical careers and to save them from a prison sentence.

I maintain that it's not the song that's the problem, it's the fact of singing it and dancing along in an orthodox cathedral. I think it's disgusting that even though they might themselves follow no religion, they aren't decent enough to respect the faith of others.

Signed, of course. It beggars belief that people could be imprisoned for two years for singing a song. The smacks of an old-time Soviet crackdown, doesn't it?

I wish them well, but the reptilian Putin is master of playing the long game. He's clearly calculating that there'll be a week's bad P.R. then we'll all move on the next story and it won't be in the headlines any more.

Time will tell.

One can sympathize with demonstrting in monolithic sexually repressive institutions, we need more of that here. Code Pink tries... and we have poitical convention demonstators allowed to demonstate in fenced in parks on the othe side of towns. It is the US use of their demonstation for political and strategic advantage that destoys their chance to be treated less severely. Meanwhile our human rights record was set by invading Iraq...

Very Sorry to see this...

Russian Punk Band Is Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Anti-Putin Stunt

A Moscow judge delivered a two-year prison sentence on Friday against three members of a punk band who staged a protest against Vladimir V. Putin in an Orthodox cathedral last February and whose jailing and trial on hooliganism charges have generated worldwide criticism of constraints on political speech in Russia.

Human rights in Russia? You have got to be joking. Putin is a relic of the KBG past and an idiot without a cause.

I've been following this and my heartfelt prayers will continue streaming over the miles to them until I hear they are released. I pray their inner light grows even stronger...brighter....and that the beauty and truth within their spirits will never be broken.
We must not forget them. Two years is is a long amount of days and nights to be held hostage and at the mercy of all sorts of people who don't care about you...fear you....even hate you because they fear you.
So please don't forget these Artist Activists as we move on to so many many other voices crying out for justice...for truth...for freedom just to Be.
