TAKE ACTION NOW! Ask the Army National Guard to Replace the Use of Pigs in Combat Trauma Training Courses

The Army National Guard is using live pigs in combat trauma training courses despite the existence of human-based training methods. In these courses pigs may be shot, burned, cut open, and have their limbs amputated.

What the HELL are these moron's thinking? Or is their thinking apparatus also set aside with their sense of morality upon enlistment? I AM a veteran, a disabled veteran, and this disgusts me. I spent a tour of duty in Viet Nam and while I was trained about what to expect and how to stay alive, we NEVER killed anything or anyone in our training. This is sheer insanity. Where the hell is the ASPCA on this? Or the Humane Society. Or humans? I used to think the phrase "going to hell in a handbasket" was just that. And I don't believe in hell, in fact, I know it is a human invention, but gawd almighty, were there such a place, I'd send fools like this there while still living because they are too stupid and amoral to be walking around the place like actual human beings. Ick! signed, noted, and added to. Sometimes, okay a lot of times, we humans just make me sick.

So disgusting. Clearly these people either have no idea that animals can think and feel or they are completely void of empathy. The decision makers here need to be called to account.

as long as any being lives in fear, hate, exploitation and death at the hands of man so shall all men live under this same threat, don't fool yourself no one is free as long as another is oppressed. withdraw your consent for as long as we agree to the small things we have agreed to the big ones, the pebble seems so small but its effects are far reaching
protect life, prosecute those that seek to destroy our shared home and our fellow beings
life has value beyond measure

Thank you for contacting Army National Guard director LTG William Ingram, Jr. and asking him to immediately replace the use of pigs with these human-based methods. Your help is greatly appreciated.
thanks Cal

Sadly the Army National Guard does indeed use pigs for combat training. But one thing the article did not mention was that the Army is fazing out ALL animals for gel-human-based methods. Not soon enough for my taste. I can tell you first hand I know hundreds of soldiers who refuse to use pigs and in doing so is replaced with non-living alternatives. I myself, along with others of course have been very vocal in not using ANY animal for combat, trauma or medical training for any reason. Not only is using a pig unneccessary, cruel and inhumane but barbaric.
I have gladly signed Cal

Hey, dammit! I've had enough of animals being abused by jerks in governmental jurisdictions. There have been an number of petitions about wolves being shot by govt agencies. Do they think we like paying for this behavior. We are not all duped. Time for all to grow up. Enough nonsense.

I hope you are right Milkah. My tax dollars may be meager but I do not want any going towards abuse. I once again wonder how people can look unto the eyes of animals and inflict such pain on them.

So why is the National Guard training in combat causalties in the first place? Not enough enlisted men ready for combat. And who will they be fighting in the first place....Americans? Maybe I am being paranoid, or does the government expect another civil war to occur?

The term "phasing out" unnerves me in that it is usually followed by a minimum time frame of "within the next ten years." HOW MANY ANIMALS WILL SUFFER AND DIE IN THE MEANTIME?!!?!

Thank you for saying NO to cruelty.

We promise to keep you updated on the fate of the pigs at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

The support of compassionate PCRM supporters like you saves innocent animals who are mistreated in the military, medical schools, and research labs.
