Representative Todd Akin's comment about "legitimate rape" was not a gaffe. It was a glimpse into the GOP War on Women.

Mitt Romney, and especially Paul Ryan, supported Todd Akin's position on abortion before they witnessed the public outcry and realized that supporting Representative Akin would hurt their chances of being elected. So Paul Ryan abandoned his good buddy and had a sudden change of heart. Nice guy, that Paul Ryan.

The Republicans will keep whittling away at women's rights until we stop them by exercising a right that our grandmothers and great-grandmothers fought long and hard to secure for us --our right to vote. We owe that much to our daughters and granddaughters and to the memories of the women who thought we were important enough to fight for!

While the care of children is a legitimate goverment function, reproductive rights are personal and should be beyond government. Abortion in the case of any rape is also a personal decision and the politicians ought stay out of it.
Signed of course.

Petition signed.

Paul Ryan: Get a life! Remove the abortion ban on all rapes. Allow the morning after pill to be dispensed for women who were raped. Allow women the option of abortion. There is NO such thing as legitimate rape. If you cannot understand legitimate rape, please live in a men's prison.

Ty, Cal.

Absolutely signed! I can't believe we're fighting this battle again. Roe v. Wade was signed in 1973! Some people just don't know when to quit. Actually, this is all a smokescreen to take the conversation off the economy, Banksters, Corporate greed & Big Money spent on buying politicians, and Willard's Mormon cult. (if Mormonism is no longer considered a "cult" I'd like to know when that changed). But, I'll continue to sign these until the day I die, if necessary. Much thanks, Cal.

THe only thing 'legitimate' in a rape case is the criminal charges against the rapist. Government should stay out of the abortion issue; abortion should be available to rape victims, women who cannot survive the full term pregnancy, and women who can pay for their own!

Signed. America owes Akin a debt of gratitude! There could have no better way to force Misogyny Incorporated into the spot light. Romney is a 'good church going Mormon', so women are not really full and equal persons or citizens. Ryan is an Evangelical Catholic, which puts him to the theological right of His Un-Holiness Ratsucker the Pedophile Protector. So thanks to Akin now all of Ryan's long, prolific legacy of Misogynist Anti-Abortion, Anti-Contraception legislation is front and center along with Willard 'The Rat' Romney's even longer and more prolific legacy of standing for absolutely nothing but personal profit.
Even better is the fact that now the Repug/Tea Bagged politicians that want Akin gone are now at war with Perkins/FRC, Fisher/AFA et alia who consider him a hero of the Christian Taliban of America. Again I say, "Thank You Todd Akin" for never before has one man caused so much shit to hit a fan aimed at the Repug/Tea Bagged-Christian Taliban of America Alliance with all the cameras rolling. And the Romney-Ryan tactic of neither allowing or answering questions about Akin, Abortion, Dr. Jack Willke etc. is going to work about as well as a dog on a car road trip.

I am confused. Why do we not focus on the real problem- rape and the male attitude toward control by sex. These men should be calling out
men for attacking women and causing this collateral damage. If men would actually confront other men and say rape and incest are not allowed and then report it in real time, friends or bosses or money notwithstanding, this is a non-existent problem.
