You Tube is full of garbage, poor taste, insults and nonsensical horseplops.

What's next? I vow to commit murder and mayhem because YOU insult WOMEN?

Yes, it's ridiculous, insulting, crude, and probably fits the definition of "blasphemy."

But...the video didn't kill/burn/storm/flail like barbarians.

only can ideas be best evaluated, in the public forum.. to long have we let the sleeping among us dictate how we all should value, life , this planet .. christian county and a muslim country and jewish country and a budist toa or whatever, its time to have a Life affirming world. of one people we need to all join a world state.. were we all take part..... oh wait, they are doing that. we just have no say, because we are so special interest ourselves it keeps the wheels of the machine going. separated by labels. doomed through ignorance.
we say we want to stop, but cant.. to many problems in the world and as long as you dont see your part.. if you were to travel back in time. I have heard it said touch nothing you could change the future in so many ways... today everything you touch effects the future of us all ... thats my point and its time to wake everyone up. the jokes over. the lies done, santa aint real, toothfairy its a sham... sorry but we got an issue, not sure who let it get out of control, for the first bit it was funny and scary and funny again then SCARY kicked in.. education is the key. I ask myself how scary is it that people, all around have voices in their head they say are not their own... wwild
stop religion before it kills us all, this is a call to education, deprogramming...
life in reality has value beyond measure
Peace and Love

Like hatred only started over there? Hasn't this kind of behavior existed for millenniums? The fault does not lie in any video content or any American administration or any other source...the fault lies in those who believe the way they do. period. They find any excuse to terrorize.

Youtube is not the problem here. What is the problem is those behind the film and the Muslim extremists that acted in response to it through violence.

Like the idiots that attacked the embassies, the people responsible for the "film" (and I use the term loosely) are responsible for making such a hate-filled propagandist piece of dreck.

Thanks Cal for the link to the LA Times article by Dawn C. Chmielewski.YouTube is facing quite a dilemma on. Free speech which might incite violence or censorship to prevent stupid people from killing someone. Read and noted.

Shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theatre is not protected speech. Also, YouTube is not a government but a business entity, which can make and enforce its own terms of service. If this video violates those, it can and should be taken down.

Given recent history, those who made and promoted this video knew or should have known that it could lead to the deaths of American citizens and other attacks on the United States. How is this not treason?

I'm not even so sure the Youtube video had much to do with the violence.

The attack in Libya was pre-planned to be on September 11. The planning almost certainly predated the release of the trailer.

The violence in Egypt might have been about something entirely different:
Even if you don't trust Ibrahim, check the date on which he reported the threat, September 10. It never went as far as threatened (burning down the embassy), but the coincidence is too much to ignore.

While I don't have any clear indication that the attack in Yemen was due to anything else, the fact remains that if some Youtube video could drive such an attack, then it was an attack waiting to happen. These attackers' hatred makes them like a dry forest: The tiniest spark will set them off. The only extraordinary part is the hatred, not the video. Youtube may have a role in the timing of the attacks, but they are going to happen with or without it.

I'm with Stephen here....can you all say PRETEXT? These mobs are using their "offense" and "religion" like a POUND the rest of the world into submission.

(Of course....Islam MEANS ''submission.'')

Joanne says "How is this not treason?"

It's not TREASON because it doesn't give away State doesn't encourage hostile governments to take over the US and it's not in service to a foreign State.

It IS, of course, (as we've all noted) a juvenile, blatant attempt to play into the hands of primitive MOBS who are waiting, willing/able to exploit their "religion" and use it as a HAMMER.

Is that the "fault" of YouTube?

I don't think so. Let's not begin to blame the owner of the bill board....and that's all YouTube is.

pam w (139)
Friday September 14, 2012, 9:03 pm we REALLY want YouTube to COWER in front of primitive hooligans with guns, screaming religious cliches and LONGING to kill an "infidel?"

@ Joanne Dixon who wrote: "Shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theatre is not protected speech. Also, YouTube is not a government but a business entity, which can make and enforce its own terms of service. If this video violates those, it can and should be taken down."

-- Please explain your point. How does this "video" violate anything? It may be in poor taste; it may contain information some may object to, but that gives no one the right to murder, tear down the flag & replace it with the JIHADI flag.

"Given recent history, those who made and promoted this video knew or should have known that it could lead to the deaths of American citizens and other attacks on the United States. How is this not treason?"

Censorship and defending the 'right' of others to commit murder because they don't like what they hear or see is TREASON! Our Constitution DOES protect free speech.

Given 1,400 years of history -- we know that the islamic hordes used every pretext and excuse for their murderous attacks on their neighbors, neighboring countries, etc. Turkey continues to deny the genocide of the Armenian people, WHO DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THEM IN 1915! Iran continues to rant about wiping Israel off the face of the earth, and uses the "palestinians" as an excuse for their threats of violence. And of course, let's not forget, the US is also "Satan", to these same folks. We've been a target for many years!

Uncivilized people will find a way to rationalize every act of violence -- giving in to this garbage will simply embolden them! The Anniversary of 911 was the real reason they went on the rampage! The video is a transparent excuse!

Pam W, you are 100% correct! Can't send you another green star yet!

YouTube has blood on it's hands, just like the rest of these morons like Terry Jones, who made, supported and promoted this piece of trash...However the cowards that they are, they are not taking any responsibility for the riots and death they are causing in the Middle East...

Don't blame youtube for the actions of violent, hatefilled Orthodox Muslims who are obeying Mohammed's commands to the letter.

Youtube has uncountable videos of all kinds and many of them are Muslim made videos offensive to Jews and Christians and that preach hate toward gays, but they don't riot around the world and murder people do they? Why is Islam always the only ideology that can't be criticized or questioned?

What's with you supposed 'liberals' and your constant defense of this hateful ideology? No one else riots and kills every time someone 'offends' them, only Orthodox Muslims (Islam is the only religion that commands violence against those who criticize, question or leave it. That is not a 'liberal' ideal!). Why do you tolerate this intolerance from Orthodox Muslims? Youtube is not to blame for this.

BTW have none of you noticed that no one has even said that what that silly film said about Mohammed was wrong? Islam's own texts - Qur'an, hadith and sira - all unashamedly tell of Mohammed's pedophilia, banditry, rape of captive women and his taking/owning/trading in slaves and sex slaves (that's adultery by any definition), mass murders, torture, cruelty, lying, forcing 'conversons' by the sword, etc etc etc. IF hearing about Mohammed's evil teachings and acts so offend Muslims then they should burn their own books and kill all their mullahs and imams for teaching it.

This film was just an excuse. Youtube is just the usual liberal scapegoat for Muslim uncivilized behavior. Your values are very twisted when you don't blame the killers and rioters. You certainly would blame Christians if they acted like this every time Islam offends them, which is daily because Islam's scriptures blaspheme Jesus of the Gospels and preach hate against Christians, Jews and all non-Muslims.

There are 109 verses of hate toward non-Muslims in the qur'an alone and the Muslim trilogy has more hate toward Jews than Hitler's Mein Kampf. How can you call yourself a supporter of human rights and peace, and constantly defend the ideology that most opposes those things? Do you think these primitives will turn nice if you tolerate their barbarism? They only hate you all the more because they view you as weak.

Iran burned 6500 Bibles not long ago and none of you cared about that, did you? And no Christians or Jews rioted around the world and murdered anyone. Only Muslims do. Quit enabling this barbaric behavior and condemn it like you would for anyone else. Otherwise you appear to approve and to be hypocrites.

Yes, if youtube or anyone else can't say anything that upsets Muslims, which includes even telling the truth about Islam and Mohammed you'll find, then they shouldn't be able to carry all the hateful videos by Muslims either. Don't you agree? Or anything that offends anyone else. And while we're at it, they should get rid of all those awful so-called music videos I hate too!

What ever happened to freedom of speech? Islam is just another opinion, belief, 'faith' like any other, and nothing should stop anyone from challenging what it says or you are asking for a world of fantasy and repression, like a Muslim Sharia ruled country, actually. You who are for making Islam immune from all criticism, and it deserves a whole lot of that, just look at Saudi Arabia and see what you are asking for. No Muslim country has freedom of religion, conscience, speech or press. Is that what you really want?

You appeasers of this cult of death and hate really scare me. Go read the Koran and the other Islam texts, I have and they are not uplifting at all. Disgusting and depressing is more like it. They are full of hate and debauchery and violence. Otherwise you're spouting ignorance.

The attack on the embassy was well planned-what is at stake here is -freedom of speech and it must be upheld at all times in civilised countries,You Tube is to be commended for standing up to this political ideology which is always making demands and -threats,the history of Islam and it's prophet -Muhammad is well known -hate and -violence -no love and compassion ,has there been any apology for the deaths of the ambassador and the three staff members that were murdered by the rabid- fanatical mob?? I would think America and it's people would be -deeply offended.

Thanks Cal.

This post raises so many issues, one of which is to show respect for the opinions of others, another is to comment or act upon something one hasn't seen. e.g. how often does a trailer not represent the full movie?

Gloria H (88)
Saturday September 15, 2012, 6:23 pm
Any excuse to stir up people with nothing better to do. It doesnt take much, cartoon, story, comment to incite an uneducated mob.
In an ideal world...wouldn't the muslims be praying for the filmakers to better understand their religion, to realize that what they are doing is making faces at muslims behind the mother's back of freedom of speech protection?
They knew damned well that they were kicking a hornets nest. They were not in those countries promoting their film (cowards). They let innocent people die because they wanted publicity. Hiding behind "free speech" is bullshit. People died who were NOT remotely connected with the film.

The right of free speech is so difficult to defend or uphold sometimes. BUT there is a clause which defends the rights of those who could or would be harmed by spreading hateful propaganda. YouTube should take this video off the site.

Rob and Jay B., lie much! Christians were killing in the name of their God and Religion for hundreds of years before Islam existed. The Uganda 'Kill the Gays Bill' was created in large part due to f'ing American Reich-Wing Christians from the Family, Rick Warren and Exodus International, Alan Chambers, Scot Lively et alia. Oh and then you can all of the people in Africa murdered by The Roman Catholic Church absolute ban on condoms, the Repug Gag Rule against even mentioning the use of Condoms to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Patrick Donovan (344)

I agree whole heartedly with Lloyd H. It quite pathetic for people to scream about how volatile Muslims are when Christians have been butchering and murdering for 2000 years anyone who did not kowtow to their god. It doesn't matter whether one talks about Roman Catholics, Protestants, or whatever, they all butcher and are still butchering if you don't agree with them.

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube et al - all have a responsiblity to their public. These people know such actions as these brings down the Sword of Damocles......and yes, Radical Islam needs no more encouragement in this area.

This film was a deliberate attempt at inciting people. There is a marked difference between freedom of speech and deliberately offending and disrespecting anyone's religion, cultural beliefs.
