There is another "front line" right here in Texas where we have 17 counties on the Barnett Shale. Still people believe what they want to believe and that seems to be "clean natural gas". If it's a fossil fuel it's not clean.

Don't panic folks.....I'm sure Big Oil/Gas companies have purchased the water rights too and have determined that the price of a gallon of future clean, drinkable water will also be VERY profitable for them. I mean after all they have been jacking around with the price of a gallon of gas for HUGE PROFITS for eons. They KNOW what they are doing.
There's a bright side too. It's putting DIRTY COAL OUT OF BUSINESS !!!!!!

I have been studying the effects of fracking for several years and read an immense amount of info on it and it needs to be halted. There is no such thing as safe fracking. Not to mention that it may heighten the odds of earthquakes, but this procedure contaminates underground water and is not going to be able to be cleaned up so easily either. Once this damage is done, it is a huge problem. This needs to be stopped at all cost!!

Please send good will that this works. My comment: "Dear NRDC, Northern Colorado has got a big problem. The coal or gas or some company came asking for signatures to get us to say that we want hydraulic frackturing(fracking.) This usually means that there will be no clean water, and horrible air quality. Please kindly check into this and if you will and/or can make a petition for Colorado -- that will work. Thank You."

Guess what people? We are Fracked and unless we take matters into our owns hands, nothing will ever be done Our politicians done are not going to do anything. They can't! They are owned by all these companies. 2,000 chemicals added with the millions of gallons of fresh drinking water is used and they don't have to disclose what these chemicals are. When these wells are closed down the rig gets taken away. The pipe line is enclose with cement which will deteriorate over time. The sludge pool and the cement platform remains behind, many which have been already found to be leaking, so all this land becomes worthless. The people in Pennsylvania found out the hard way. Add to that the minor earthquakes that have occurred, so far, what do the people gain. Clean water is worth more that any natural gas or oil! On top of all that we have a foreign company laying a pipe line, which many already exist and have caused contamination of water and land, with the right that belongs only to federal, state and city governments of Eminent Domain! Something is not right in all of this. Don't think that Obama put a stop to this, he is for it! He only postponed it until after the election and gave them to right to complete the southern half which then that away from the reserves we have in the mid-states to be piped to Texas to be refined and shipped overseas. We need to take action! The same action the created this Country! Obama wasn't a wealthy man when he began his Presidency and is now worth over 37 million dollars. Where did all this money come from? We are alone when it comes to fighting big industry and corruption. They are ready with all the FEMA camps across America, are you?

It’s a little too late now. Most people have been turning their backs on the environment, busy with their own personal agendas…big houses, big cars complete with excessive, non-stop driving, big bank accounts, big this, big that, trying to look big and powerful (yawn). Yes, it’s a little too late to care now. Corporations should not have been allowed to control so much, but everyone was trying to jump on the band-wagon of wealth, and they turned their backs for too long. I recently read about another danger being "brought to the surface" because of fracking: RADON! Exposure to radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer and, thanks to the process of hydraulic fracturing, it's being released and finding it's way into people's lungs. It's colorless and odorless and can't be detected without testing kits, but it's a silent killer that needs to be dealt with --in this case, by keeping it underground!

"The shale in Pennsylvania sits in the same location as the "Reading Prong," which is a known, natural source of radioactive radon gas. This is a natural condition and has been well known for over 30 years. Whether above or below the gas-bearing shale, the fracking provides pathways to the water supplies and surface that did not already exist.

This knowledge preceded 99-plus percent of the fracking wells, yet the industry chose to go ahead with fracking. Until very recently, there were no industry waste recovery sites capable of dealing with this contamination and no requirement to do so. There is currently no economical way to remove radon from well water. At least the methane can be burned off at the tap."
