A few months after Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was poised to approve hydraulic fracturing in several struggling New York counties, his administration is reversing course and starting the regulatory process over, garnering praise from environmental groups and sti

This is not a correct story. The Cuomo bunch have until November 29th to report out on the EIS. If they do not, then state law kicks in and the process must go back to start.

This is not a decision or anything to be joyful about until Nov 30th.

Let's hope he does the people of NY right especially if he has any desires of making a run for President...

I'd like to offer 1 correction here. The article says that, among those angered are upstate landowners. I live right on top of the Marcellus Shale deposit, bordering one of the counties that Cuomo was going to sacrifice. If you drive the countryside up here, you will see that the "friends of natural gas" signs are outnumbered over 100 to 1 by "No Fracking" signs. So, to say upstate landowners are angered by Cuomo's recent flip-flop is either a mistake or a lie!

Noted. Thanks, Cal. And, thanks to Robert for that bit of info. So, we have strength in numbers....guess that's why it's called a "movement." I'm glad to be a tiny part of it. Was glad to read that Cuomo is interested in pursuing the Science facts on fracking.

I like this quote from the article: "Mr. Cuomo has been interested in fracking because of the promise that it could bring jobs to an economically struggling region of the state." What he really means is that after he allows fracking in NY, everyone's drinking water will get very polluted and it will cause much sickness. There will be many new jobs in the medical field "industry" to treat (not cure) all of the symptoms and illnesses from this poisoning of the environment. NY - get rid of this jerk!

Could a way be found to harvest all that sewer gas?
