What can Obama do? Arm more Muslim Brotherhood Islamists to further radicalize the Middle East? Bashar al-Assad is a criminal who arms Hezbollah and acts as proxies for Iran. The Islamists are horrible and nobody needs more of those imposing harsh Sharia on the population. And now Assad's trying to pull Israel in by attacking the Golan in the hopes of diverting attention and having the entire ME erupt in a conflagration. Nice people.

The best thing Obama could do is to stand by Israel and support them, especially as the Syrians cynically and criminally attack them. Israel, for humanitarian reasons, has agreed to the UN request to provide water purification tablets to make undrinkable Syrian water drinkable for the entire population.

In addition, the world should appreciate that Israel went in several years ago and flattened the nuclear arms plant Syria was building, because whichever Islamic group who would have gotten a hold of that would have held the entire Middle East hostage and probably even beyond that.

Syria and much of the M.E. is composed of warring tribal factions and is a hornet's nest with global ambitions. Best to get the poor Christians and other minorities out of Syria, before they, too, succumb to yet more genocide and ethnic cleansing.
