In days, Nigeria's Parliament could approve a $5 billion fine against giant oil polluter Shell for a spill that devastated the lives of millions of people, and pass a law to hold all oil companies to account for polluting and plundering

I donít think itís going to happen Cal! Chevron still hasnít paid Ecuador for its spill after being told to pay $9 billion dollars in damages. The origins of the case go back to the 1970s, when Texaco, which was later acquired by Chevron, operated as a partner with the Ecuadorean state oil company. The villagers sued in 1993, claiming that Texaco had left an environmental mess that was causing illnesses. These oil companies are relatively safe operating outside the US and US law.

Noted and gladly signed. In Ecuador, a native woman sued an oil company (It could be Shell) for causing the death of her husband and her two youngest children. She was almost illiterate but she got the proper help anf finally won. The money should be used to restore nature. But the oil company has done a lot of damage: polluting all rivers and sources, causing the deaths of people and a lot of animals, cutting the most beautiful and expensive trees, building roads so that a lot of people decided to go and live in the jungle and started polluting even more, etc.
