With the help of online organizing and Our Walmart, Walmart workers are gearing up for a walkout on Black Friday. The workers hope to highlight what they say is the unfairness of having to work for low wages, in poor conditions, while Walmart profits.

it won't do any good. wal-mart will just hire more people. there are millions of people that want to work.
look what striking got the hostess employees, no jobs. how does shutting down a company and putting thousands out of work help anybody but the union bosses that got their money up front?
i don't shop on black friday and unless i am forced i don't shop at wal-mart

Would love to see that! But don't shop at Walmart. Never have and never will. And the Walmart here doesn't allow unions.

Surely it's possible to do all our shopping a few days BEFORE Thanksgiving? -- and most "Black Friday" deals are available online, with many offering "Free Shipping"!

I avoid going anywhere on a holiday, since I believe ALL workers should be able to spend the holidays with their families. If staying open on a holiday were not profitable, you can be sure Wal-Mart would not open their doors.

People, if you want to enjoy a day off on a holiday -- do your shopping beforehand ... an empty store several holidays in a row, just might be the way to end this practice. Only ESSENTIAL services should be open on a holiday! Obviously, medical care, nursing home staff, law enforcement, EMT's, etc., should have to work! But retail, fast food, etc., should be off!

Make a list, check it twice -- buy your essentials before your feast ... and do not shop on the holiday!

Good for the Walmart workers!

If we all stick together and support strikes, maybe we can fight our way back to having some of the myriad human advances we'd already and so painfully made...

These people are not in a union. They are striking because Walmart treats people so poorly that they will risk the job to try to get fairer conditions. Many of the conditions they complain about are illegal or inhumane. The legal system doesn't punish Walmart for the numerous and repeated violations of the law. This is why the employees are not immediately fired and thrown off the property - Turns out firing and abusing people for reporting violations of the law is a little tricky for even Walmart and their trained pets in the government. Walmart could end this right away. Pay people the legal rate, with legal working conditions and allow workers to have input into their job and workplace.

Walmart owners are maybe the biggest bloodsucking scum in America today, and that's not an easy crown to give. The founder must be spinning in his grave with disgust.

Cal, thanks for sharing! I've been keeping up with this story. So far, I've seen stores in Texas and California and 1 warehouse. I've been boycotting Walmart for about 7 years now. From animal rights to human rights, this company has horrible practices......
