As concerns mount that Syrian President Bashar Assad could unleash chemical weapons against his opponents, the Kremlin appears to be recalibrating its support for a desperate ally.

Russia may want to stand back from "bitter resentment", but we know where his loyalties are.

Assad is done; let's hope it doesn't get worst with the new regime. Egypt should be very fresh in our minds.

Hmmm, not sure about that assessment there. But one thing is quite understandable: Russia and Turkey will hardly both agree on any need forTurkey to be protected as that need does not exist. Turkey's military power is huge, among the top worldwide and they also know about Syria's C-arsenal and where exactly it is and they do have own ways of taking care of any possible such threat. The patriots ordered are for another reason and purpose.

IMHO, the chemical weapons is a redux of the early 2000's 'weapons of mass destruction' lie that paved the way to demolish Iraq.
In November the 'Pillar of Cloud' assault possibly tested new chemical weapons on the trapped Palestinians, which showed effects never before seen by medical people, such as blue skin, amputated limbs.

Looks like USreal is projecting their crimes once again on the "HATEful Others".

And we in US should be asking why we are putting our weapons and technology into the hands of rebels attacking the sovereign government of Syria, when we are supposedly fighting a war on terror. The majority of Syrians still support Bashar Assad, as they've seen what UN freedom & democracy wreaked in Iraq and more recently Libya.

Wesley Clark told us all about the plans to destroy 7 middle east countries in 2004 I believe.

Russia is pragmatic, doesn't have the excessive military resources to engage in Armageddon.
