The US Fish and Wildlife Service dropped federal protections for reintroduced wolves in Wyoming Friday, part of a decades-long plan to bring back the howling of wolves while allowing 'trophy hunts' for the apex predator.

Without protection from those who have declared a mindless, meaningless WAR on wolves?

No, they will not. If these ranchers are allowed to kill wolves because of the death of one or more of their livestock, even if it is not completely clear it was a wolf kill, then they will kill them all, as they did decades ago. Environmental agencies have tried to work with these ranchers, with some success, but that puts the responsibility of proving it was a wolf kill on the rancher. So, it looks like the wolves are destined for extinction in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, among others, if the government doesn't step up and take charge.

What is it about man who reintroduces a creature then decides to kill it again! The statement made about if it seems the wolf is becoming endangered it can go back on the endangered list again is ridiculous! Who does man think he is? This is playing right into the hands of the hunters and it really sickens me!

I am disgusted with the USA.
So bloody stupid and America wonders why its country has mass shootings where heaps of people are shot and killed. No wonder this happens America ,as your country is too stupid to realise you need to control weapons and ban the hunting mentality. Not enyone needs a gun.
The only good hunter is a dead one.Hunt the hunters!!!!

I am now boycotting travel annually to the USA for my annual holidays. No wonder the USA is going down the drain fast as no one wants to travel to this animal killing field.

Even if one wants to honor the ranchers' rights to protect their livestock, how does that argument stand up when wolves are ambushed just outside Yellowstone National Park?

Wolves are very important to our eco-system. We must fight for them and get Ken Salazar out of office of the Sec. of Interiors and put someone in office that will help the wildlife and not the ranchers. After all, the person in that office is to work for the people and not just for one group of ranchers.
