SIGH!

Can we all agree that there is NOT just ONE problem for these bears?

We have essentially lost the arctic and that will doom many species which have adapted over millions of years to live there.

Selling polar bear parts just hastens their doom.

"Some activists say the market for rugs and ornaments made from the bears is driving them to extinction.

But others argue that the most pressing problem for the species is climate change and the disappearance of polar ice."

Really? This is what is causing these groups paralysis? How difficult can it be to say BOTH are highly dangerous to the survival of this magnificent species and work to ban both? Wouldn't think you'd need an international, toothless, conference to make this an issue. They'd be better off hiring a network of bloggers than spending money on conferences whose resolutions are binding on no one at all. Action is what is needed here, not speeches.

Totally agree with Gene! BOTH issues are extremely dangerous to the bears. This should be cause to international attention from a variety of sources - why not combine your activities and double your strength?

BTW- that photo in the middle of the page IS pretty grisly. Caught me off guard in the middle of reading the information.
