Bullhooks. Whippings. Electric shocks. Three-day train rides without breaks. Our yearlong investigation rips the big top off how Ringling Bros. treats its elephants.

if the circus plans to come to your town please let people know what really happens to circus animals. low ticket sales is the best way to stop the circus. so write letters to local sponsors, newspapers, elected officials, and media outlets. when the news covers the circus coming to town make them report on these issues instead of "cute" animal stories and pseudo-promotions for the circus.

This torturing of elephants should not only be prohibited, but policed as well.
I'm sure circuses could survive without elephants at all. they do in Australia.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Deborah Nelson. A very long but enlightening read and very disturbing to boot. I haven't been to a circus since I was a young child and never felt the need to attend another one. Read and noted.

That was absolutely nauseating. The video excruciating to watch, the text unbearable. May PETA never give up on this cause and where ever those pathetic excuses for "trainers" go next, I hope there are bullhooks and ankuses just for them. I've never been to a circus and never will and I will support any effort to end this barbaric treatment of what are, in the wild, sentient loving creatures, truly gentle giants - their only enemy the human plague that infests the planet and greed, always greed.

Ringling will some day get what's coming to them. The problem is the money they generate when they are in town, gives them an immoral edge - a protective shield as it were.

This antiquated cruel so called 'entertainment' is long past its sell by date. Ringling should be closed down immediately. How much more proof do the authorities need?
