The biotech companies of Monsanto, Dow, and Dupont have petitioned you and your government to plant an unprecedented 6,000,000 acres (according to ETC Group) of GMO corn, with over 3,500,000 acres of this in Monsanto's herbicide-tolerant maize

Monsanto continues it's track across the globe attempting to eradicate diversity (and unpatented food) wherever they go. Mexico fight!

Mexican corn - in all its splendid varieties - is as much a part of humanity's heritage as any UN site - & deserves and requires as much protection.

Already, I was heartbroken, watching Marie-Muriel Robin's 'World According to Monsanto', to find out that Mexican agronomists or researchers had already discovered bits of GM corn among the national-treasure corn they were keeping tabs on. They were puzzled as to how it got there as there was a national ban on GM corn.

The part of Robin's film about Mexican corn is right at the beginning of YouTube Part 9 The World According to Monsanto. Now that I've watched it again, I see my memory was mistaken- it's because of the Nafta Free Trade Agreement that Mexico has been unable to bar massive imports of US corn, 40% of which is GM. Because the GM corn is subsidized by the US govt, it costs half as much as traditional Mexican corn on the Mexican market. And just imagine what THAT does to Mexican farmers!

Mexico's National Ecology Institute is the place where the researchers I mentioned above studied Mexican national-heritage corn & discovered it had been contaminated by US Monsanto corn. This is 2min45seconds into Part 9.

Although this article focuses on Monsanto, it also state that Dow and Dupont have filed petitions for the same purpose. When my father was younger, his company (electrical appliances) sold wholesale products to Dupont. He was proud to have them as a customer, and I have many publications from them as a result. Their motto was"
"Better living through chemistry." Glad my dad isn't around to see these shameful actions.

AVAAZ Petition signed.

Disgusting that Monsanto and other GMO companies are now in Mexico. The people there must put a stop to
the destruction of the native corn that is already there.

Ty, Cal.

What a surprise, the extremely corrupt government in Mexico letting Monsanto do whatever they want. I would like to say shocking but sadly I'm used to this kind of news emerging from my country. I keep thinking there's no worst terrorist group than Monsanto because they have a green light to do all their destruction from governments around the world. Signed and shared. Thanks Cal!
