I hope they make the right decision and allow all their citizens to marry whom ever they choose. This is not rocket science here. It's not discriminating against people who want to marry each other.

I have always admired a lot about France and French culture in general, but is quite painful to see so much of their political dialogue in recent years being dominated by right-wing extremists who wish to completely shut the door on social progress in that nation.

I believe it is a human right for any human being to marry another human being regardless of gender. Hope France opens its eyes and arms.

More than 350,000 turned out to protest AGAINST the proposed new law... that should speak VOLUMES as to how people feel... at the same time some people want their 'rights' ~ others who are NOT for this, also have 'rights' too ~ to say how they feel. No country should feel 'pressured' into making decisions about this issue... yet, many are. What has our world come to? What else will be 'forced' upon one's society when the 'traditions' are ripped away? They have the right to speak their opinion about it ~ it's that simple.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Stefan Simons. The Majority of French citizens support marriage equality and this "protest" is just a political ploy by the opposition. Read and noted.

France is civilized enough to let gays marry.

What is the problem... Get it done and get it over with.

Let the gays have their happiness.

Ty, Cal.

Why does anyone care about who marries whom? There are living beings suffering! Rape, vivisection, land mines, factory farming, war, genocide, and all sorts of atrocities causing agony...if a person is doing no harm, I don't care if he or she marries a dog, pig, or tree! Stop meddling and start caring!

Come on, France! Canada legalized gay marriage years ago, and our country hasn't fallen apart (and already-married people didn't suddenly become un-married, either).

I think it's only fair to have both sides expressing their views.
