There is a serious situation developing in Sri Lanka's Yala National Par, due to a particular adult male elephant becoming too acclimatized to tourist jeeps and interacting with the visitors closely

I hope nothing bad happens to him. It will take a while to extinguish the behavior, but if they stop feeding him from cars, he'll eventually learn that sticking his head in a jeep no longer pays off.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Srilal Miththapala. A dangerous situation not only for the parks visitors but the elephant himself. Read and noted.

Surely there can be humane solution. Just please do not harm or ship these elephants to China.

How can a place of conservation be dangerous?

this is like the safari parks we have here in the uk. the animals get so used to cars going past and people throwing food out for them that in the end, you'd have hoards of monkeys jumping on your car, pulling at your window wipers and deer sticking their tongues into open windows or worse-their entire heads! as someone else said, it IS a recipe for disaster; and the evidence is that one such case has already resulted in the death of an elephant

Once again man is to blame He uses them to entertain the tourists Once again its money making but in the end the animals get too forward and the poor things get shot because its created a dangerous situation How short sighted these gamekeepers are
