THERE'S A LOT TO CONSIDER BUT MOST OF ALL THE CARER NEEDS TO BE LOVING & KNOW THE ANIMAL'S NEEDS.

Noted. Thanks, Cal. This was especially interesting for me because we had to put our dog to sleep a couple days ago. She had cancer and was terminal...couldn't bear for her to suffer any longer. So, we're looking for a new dog...we've never lived without having one--and my young adult son is looking into it, so this was great info.

Lois...I'M SO SORRY! Just remember that there's another loving heart out there--waiting for YOU!

The 5th thing you should know about rescues is that they KNOW you've saved them! They do--and they can love you FAR more than a puppy which had no previous experience. I've rescued at least a dozen dogs and they always turn out well. Talk to the staff at the shelter....ask to chat with a volunteer. They can steer you to the dog that's right for you.

BEST OF LUCK, Lois!

Any responsible rescue group will take you though these steps. The rescue does not want to see the animal returned, the owner does not want to go through the heart break of returning the animal. Please, do not jump at the first animals....you may have to go back again. This does not mean the animal is not right for you.
