TAKE ACTION NOW! The US Post Office Isn't Broke -- It's Being Robbed.

Even with the declining levels of "snail mail," the post office still manages to deliver to every household in America a total of 563 million pieces of mail for an incredibly low cost. It does it efficiently, and without a penny of taxpayer money.

"..the financial problems are in large part a direct result of an onerous and ill-considered 2006 law called the "Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act" (PAEA) that mandates pre-funding the postal service retiree health care and pension benefits for 75 years something that no other government agency or private company is forced to do."

So - can someone more knowledgeable than me confirm that this would not reduce or remove retiree benefits? The fact that the USPS still has a fiscally sound pension seems like a good thing to me when so many other companies and agencies can no longer deliver on retirement benefits after the market crash. Im all for keeping the postal service in action and would sign for that reason but am concerned about depleting one of the only remaining viable pension services in our country outside of those protected for the corporate elite.

Thanks for giving us this information. Once again the GOP has shown us how juvenile they are. Oh, and sick and hateful too. Our P.O. gives us great service and always with a smile.

Sorry, I can't sign this at all.

To say that one party is more to blame than another is 'political grandstanding' at its worse. I blame Democrats, Republicans, voters who vote, voters who don't voted and citizens who are too lazy to register for voting!

If you have not written a letter to your elected leaders in the last five years. If you have not sent an email or made a call to your elected leaders. If you have not voted in the last three elections (General and Local included.) If you have lied to get out of jury duty. If you have cheated on your taxes. If you have made purchases on the Internet and then failed to pay taxes on your state forms as required by your state. If you speed, tailgate, chat on the mobile or text...

Then look in the mirror because you are the reason our country is in the mess it is in... you can't blame a Democrat and you can't blame a Republican. It is your fault and it is the fault of millions of people who are just like you!

The political stressors put on the USPS by Republicans trying to enrich themselves and their buddies at the UPS, FedEx etc is unconscionable. They are trying to put the USPS out of business which will exascerbate the unemployment problem.

Unfortunately, most of it is junk mail, followed closely by unsolicited advertisements.

Yet another way in which the GOP want to move the clock back to the middle ages.

Already signed but thanks for getting the information out there. Congress, again working for their Masters, pushing under a good system that has worked for over a hundred years to give Fed Ex and UPS the edge. Watch all their prices go up once the Post Office is destroyed.

Start speaking out people and learn what is going on. The US postal service doesn't take any taxes from you. No other Company has been requested to pre-fund retiree health care and pension benefits for 75 years. This is plan is working, a death blow to the US postal service.

Credo Petition signed.

Get Darrel Issa, a puke g o p person, to take out the language he inserted into the bill that requires Postal people to fund retirement 75 years in advance, for employees not yet even born!

In Australia we have a Mail Service that is identical to the U S's. However the similarity is more evident in the differences.. Recently I stayed in a small Texas town that has a population of 6,000 which is similar to my own hometown. The American Mail Office had one, very pleasant, person at the counter and whenever I went in I was the only customer. Apart from the obvious related to mail items non sale there was NOTHING.

In my own Mail office there are usually three personnel, going flat out, and at virtually any time of the day there is a long line of customers extending to the door. Then there is also a terrific choice of items on sale from Passport photos, to video games, computer inks, Mail packaging, and gift items. Our mailing system virtually guarantees delivery between major cities country wide within 24 hours, and this in a country that is the size of the original 48 States. Admittedly the twice daily delivery of mail, from days gone by, has gone, but who needs it? and Saturday deliveries likewise. Even with the advent of this medium the mail turn over is in the billions and shows no sign of diminishing. If I want a parcel delivered efficiently and safely, from my experience, I would sooner use Australian Postal Service than any of the private organisations it has been my misfortune with which to have been involved

Signed. Noted. The government never seems to lack money for bombs and missiles; they only come up short when it comes to things like education, jobs programs, postal service, etc.
