Canada's police and security agencies think citizens concerned about the environment are threats to national security, and some are under surveillance, documents reveal.

It doesn't really address if some would be willing to commit sabotage.

Noted, shared and, like Michael, likely CSIS monitored. Thanks Cal.

Violent groups have a history of infiltrating peaceful protests in Canada. The most effective way to catch the relatively secretive violent groups is to watch public and peaceful ones to which they attach themselves and from which they splinter.

The problem is in terrorist groups' recruitment-methods. Obviously, they don't go to the public like normal organizations, or they would be caught. They must be approached by those already interested in joining, people who already support their causes and want to do more. They get these recruits by promoting non-criminal organizations which promote the same causes, youth groups, education programs with some indoctrination built in, etc. This is why an after-school religious program in Toronto which included some pretty disturbing doctrine and had links to Saudi Arabia got so much attention a while back, despite being entirely legal: It exactly fit the profile of "pre-recruitment" efforts. For domestic terrorism, environmental and other groups may be used for similar purposes, even if not originally set up or run by dangerous organizations. It is impossible to tell without investigatin them individually.

Noted this article which just agitates me...the government calling us all radicals, and activism is being supported
by some big money??? Gee Whiz Prime Minister Harper, I grew up in the same city you call home, I am a senior citizen now, and just because I believe our environment, our animals and their habitats, the oceans that surround us should be protected - cared for - cared about for future generations, I am now radical???? I understand that there is a worry that the real bad guys can infiltrate peaceful activist groups...but surely they are known or suspected by the law.

We are such a ;pain to the greedy.

Why don't we just lay down and die quietly?

Well, WE WON'T.

We have children we did not abort.
We have pets who depe!nd on us.
We don't like pain! for ourselves or others
there are causes worth fighting for......
and there's a lot of us fighting.

I read in the news that 50,000 people converged on Washington, there were rallies in ,many states with thousands making demands and there were a million of us on line activists ------ all demanding that something be done about climate change.

We are many. We will not shut up.

More of us every day, are waking up and shouting "Oh, no you don't!!!"."

Noted. Those of us who envision a clean, green planet....or equality for the masses---are speaking truth to power, and they're scared of us. As we grow and gather together, we present a threat to the status quo....let's keep up the good work and continue to add to our numbers. You can't kill and idea or arrest a movement.
