Too little too late and merely a Russian attempt to save face for supporting this idiot! Arab League is a farce.

Well good for them. Perhaps a start would be if the Russian's stopped providing weapons to Assad. They are just desperate to remain a player on the world stage. They forget who they are dealing with here. Islamic extremists are the opposition. They will never stop, not permanently, there will be an Islamic government in Syria and the fighting will go on however long it takes to get it. That is the people Russia wants to talk to? Talk away. Like you did in Afghanistan, remember where that got you? Same place it got us, no where.

Hoping something will help!
Assad is holding on to what he sees as power, apparently not giving a damn for the lives he hurts along the way,in what he sees, probably, as the center of the world, but it is only a tiny speck, on a slightly less tiny speck somewhere in the vastness of the universe.

These talks will go nowhere as Israel prepares to begin exploratory drilling in the usurped Golan Heights, which it occupies and in defiance of international laws has placed it's 'settlers' there to take the Golan Heights natural resources, such as wineries with Syrian grapes.

If not for objections by China & Russia, Syria would be Libya redux, gruesome war crimes and assassination of Colonel Ghadaffi..
""Russia and the Arab League say they want to broker direct talks between the Syrian government and opposition in a bid to end the country's civil war."

Another good place to start would be for the west to quit arming al queada & other terrorist affiliated 'rebels.' to bring about the downfall of one of the last pro Palestinian leaders in the region, he is also loathe to pay tribute to Israel the way we in US do to the tune of $8 million a day, while our military veterans are homeless and American children go hungry.
