"6 thanks were found to be oozing at a rate of about 1,000 gallons a year in February for an unknown length of time" ??? WHY?? Who the hell is responsible for checking the tanks? Unacceptable!! Nuclear power will NEVER be safe!

Noted. This is just devastating. So much being contaminated! So, the tax loopholes will remain---while our fragile environment and people pay the cost.

This certainly is not a new problem and it is not just Hanford...every nuclear reactor in the country has waste and we as a nation, have no idea how to get rid of it.

the claim nuclear energy is cleaner but is it? nuclear clean up from leaks has become pretty common .imagine if we were solely dependent on it . we along with every other country using nuclear power should probably figure out how to deal with the waste before claiming its the best way to go and if the short term benefit out ways the long term environmental impact of the waste . I lived in P>B in San Diego , Ca and was near the san onofre nuclear power plant it was just up the coast and its terrifying when something goes wrong there. it could destroy the southern California coastline and all its amazing wildlife in the blink of an eye
