Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Jim Abrams. Mr. Young is an idiot plan and simple. Here is a link to a petition asking him to resign because of his offensive remark:

Read and noted.

My mom always taught me to think before opening my mouth. Many of our nations' politicians would do well to follow this practice. I don't think his apology is sincere anyway, but political expediency.

Time for him to get out of politics. If he can't control himself, he needs to go.

He can apologize until he tunes blue in the face.......this one word tells how he really views Hispanic migrant workers and it's shameful.

These politicians always apologize if they think it hurts their chances of reelection. What they said first is what they believe and meant to say. It is just so sad that they will only do anything to help us if it benefits them by getting money or reelection. Otherwise they have no interest in making this country better.

Does Alaska ever put out any good politicians? Stevens - criminal. Palin - idiot. Young -racist. So far, they're doing great.

"...His use of the word drew swift criticism from fellow Republicans working to temper the party's hardline positions on illegal immigrants and to improve GOP standing among Hispanic voters."

"Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said the party offers a "beacon of hope" for those seeking liberty around the world and that Young's remarks "emphatically do not represent the beliefs of the Republican Party.""

While Boehner said "offensive and beneath the dignity of the office he holds." warranting an immediate apology.

There was no apology from Young until Republican/Teabaggers insisted he apologise several days later. Seems he walked into their little charade of trying to pitch woo to Hispanic voters with his oversized mukluks..

Thanks John B for the link. Signed

Racism should be given no quarter, anywhere. Falling back on this derisive term as being used in the mid 20th century, only proves that Young is incapable of adapting, learning, and respecting others.

Don Young has been a wonderful Congressman for Alaska. How many other politicians have said things that they wished they hadn't!? Don't we ALL say something at one time or another we wish we could take back!? If we say no we are lying to ourselves and others! Don Young has worked FOR the people of Alaska and gotten many things done for them!! Unfortunately not the case with Obama and look at the stupid remarks he has come up with along with Biden! Besides what he said by saying wetbacks is the same thing that many others have said and yet nothing is said about that. Not that it makes it right but at least he had to balls to apologize!! And it was a sincere apology!!

As far as Sarah Palin being an idiot...have you noticed how many thing Sarah has said long before the actual claim came out that she was in fact correct on what she has said!? if not then you have not been paying attention! Sarah is another one who fights FOR the people..not against them! And you have seen nothing of her yet!! She will be a force to reckon with and I support her 100%!!

It's best to not throw rocks from a glass house!!

From the article: "Young said he plans to run for re-election next year, saying he doesn't know anyone who can do a better job than he does in representing the state."

Sadly enough, based on the caliber of politicians from Alaska, he might be right.
