Are we ever going to stop to be that stupid? I don't get it. Is there anybody left in this planet who is not aware of the importance of the Amazonian forest? How despite that can we still keep allowing this kind of things to happen?

What an outrage! If the auction would be in violation of indigenous rights, there must be a way to stop it or invalidate the transaction!

Why not just burn down what's left of the Amazon because it's just heartbreaking to see it being sold little by little to the highest bidder. What about the wildlife and tribes people that rely on this amazing forest??? So very disappointed. Thx Cal.

This should never be allowed to happen! Whether it's rainforest or not, it's home to the indigenous population - they were there first, and shouldn't have the land sold out from under their feet! But because it is rainforest, it is particularly deserving of protection!

The rainforest is a beautiful thing that shouldn't be handed over to the highest bidder. What about the people? What about the animals? As usual it's all about power and $$$$$$. Thanks Cal.

Scary say the least........China's only interest in the Ecuadorian Rainforest is
to raid the land and leave it in shambles.!!!! It is clear that Ecudorian Government feels
the same way. What greed can do to people is beyond comprehension !!!!!!

The Amazon rainforests, the boreal forests of Canada, and more are the lungs of the planet, scrubbing the air that all animal life breathes, including humans. Canada`s Stephen Harper, aka PM Twit, has been entertaining Chinese interests in the oil patch, including the tar sands, In addition, it wants to ship dangerous bitumen to China by sea. The Chinese want part of Ecuador now and are looking at other oil sources. Their need for fossil fuels is extremely high, but their regard for the health of the planet and the people is extremely low.

Petitions signed

Interesting to note that one refers to opening up the Amazon not for oil exploration, but for oil EXPLOITATION.
