Kudos to the members of the Muslim community who came forward to reveal this planned attack! It's a shame that radical Islamic elements, such as the bombers in Boston and the plotters in Toronto, cast a pall on good, peace-loving, and law-abiding Muslims of the world.

It breaks my heart to see what we have allowed to happen on our planet. I have been dealing with terrorism since a teenager during the IRA terror/bombing campaign in the UK, over 40 years ago. Unfortunately all terrorism does is kill, destroy and make people scared. It never makes anything better for anyone. How on earth the terrorists believe they are doing something good is beyond me and all sensible people. Governments have to take away some rights and freedoms from all citizens just to be able to pursue the terrorists. Until all Governments work together to put an end to the killing, by rounding up and imprisoning the culprits, hundreds of thousands of people will be killed every year.

Freight trains make great execution tools to use on terrorists. Can't see an al-qaeda scumbag tied to the rail in time to avoid slicing him in two...

From the Canadian Press ---
Two Canadian residents have been charged in an alleged terror plot to attack a Via Rail passenger train. Raed Jaser, 35, from Toronto and Chiheb Esseghaier, 30, from Montreal face these terrorism-related charges:
Chiheb Esseghaier:
— Conspire to interfere with transportation facilities for the benefit of a terrorist group (April 1 - Sept. 25, 2012)
— Conspiracy to murder for the benefit of a terrorist group (April 1-Sept. 25, 2012)
— Participate in a terrorist group (April 1 - Sept. 25, 2012)
— Participate in a terrorist group (Sept. 25, 2012 - Feb. 14, 2013)
— Instruct someone to carry out an activity for the benefit of a terrorist group (Sept. 7- Dec. 20, 2012)
Raed Jaser:

— Conspiracy to murder for the benefit of a terrorist group (April 1 - Sept. 25, 2012)
— Participate in a terrorist group (April 1 - Sept. 25, 2012)

And here is a link to a story about the response of the Canadian Muslim community.

I find it interesting to note the differences in response between Canada and the US to such incidences, both from the Muslim community and the community at large.

In my opinion, extremism from one group only serves to provoke extremism from another.

ship all muslim to muslim countries and keep them there. they can't live with others and we shouldn't try to let them.
wall them off and don't let them out. they can go back to killing each other.

Last week Boston. This week Canada. Next week? Possibly a place near you.
Western governments must be mad to allow these fanatical Islamists unrestricted entry. It's time we got tough with them but it's unlikely to happen.
Political correctness gets in the way.

After reading posts like this, people who still are annoyed at being detained at airports, better realize, this is not the same world anymore.

The warrant was actually supposed to have been served last week but was deferred. At no time was the public in danger and there was very little chance of them pulling this off as the RCMP had them under surveillance.

Theodore. If they failed it wasn't through lack of trying. It was thanks to the vigilance of the RCMP.

Allan, I don't mind undergoing security and taking out my belt.

What I do mind, is that political correctness puts groups of population likely to commit terrorism on one level with those who are highly unlikely to commit it.

Al-Queda planners must be laughing their butts off: they do a trick, and we start checking everyone for that trick! I am sure they have lots of tricks. Are we going to be complete nuts to continue that way?
