Some say natural causes explain why the park's wolf population has hit a 26-year low, but there's more to the story than that.

Wolves are under threat in every country they live due to urbanization and illegal hunting like in Finlands rreindeer husbandry areas in North.

Let's send Sarah Palin out alone, on snowshoes, to count remaining wolves, shall we?

I'm sure she'd enjoy it.

I know I would......

It takes a deeply disturbed mind to drag a dead horse to draw wolves out to be killed.

Here is a very interesting article on the study/monitoring of the wolf patterns which gives quite a bit of information on the reasons for decreases in Wolf populations.

http://www.nps.gov/dena/naturescience/upload/wolfmonitoring2011_revised-2.pdf

The article above tends to lean towards a liberal view according to this statement..
But in recent years, wolf numbers in the 7,370-square-mile park have decreased even faster than the TV audience of Sarah Palin’s Alaska on TLC. In 2007,

I mean really...what was the purpose of saying this kind or remark if not anti Sarah Palin!? It added no facts to the so called study.

*****AWA member Marybeth Holleman studied these ongoing events as she wrote her forthcoming book, Among Wolves, a profile of the late biologist Gordon Haber. She says that Denali Park biologist Tom Meier (also recently deceased) reported that he and other park biologists believed declining wolf populations weren’t the result of declining prey. Nor did they blame habitat, which is abundant in the 6.3 million-acre park.

I would tend to want to speak to the late Gordon Haber before I would believe this part of the article..unfortunately he is not around to contradict this claim if in fact he didn't say this!

*****Some, like the Alaska Board of Game, blame this die-off on natural causes—wolves killing wolves and low sheep populations. But others, including private citizens, park biologists, and members of the environmental advocacy group the Alaska Wildife Alliance (AWA), believe there are more sinister reasons. According to some AWA members, the recent, radical decline of the park’s most visible wolves—called the Grant Creek group—is the result of three main factors: the dissolution of Denali’s protective buffer zone, the Palin-appointed Alaska Board of Game, and the acute, ethically questionable actions of a small handful of local trappers, including a man named Coke Wallace.

Here again is the mention of Sarah Palin... leading readers to believe she is the problem..not so and not true. The other factors mentioned in this part of the article is also explained as fact in the monitoring of wolves link that I added on.

*****Trappers once again position their snares along the park boundary, killing not only adult wolves, but pups. And last May, in an act that infuriated both wolf advocates and "the usually detached" Denali Park Service,

WHAT is this comment suppose to mean other than the person writing this article thinks the Denali Park Service don't know what they are doing!? Perhaps they could give him a few lessons on how to write or what not to write to make a writer more reputable!? Sounds like a pretty cocky journalist to me! Throwing HIS attitude or impressions INTO an article showing "bias" is all he is doing! Nothing factual!

MORE information on the monitoring of the wolf populations that proves the person who wrote this article worte it mostly on hearsay!

well, I can pipe in about Sarah Palin... She is the one who put bountys on wolf parts for wolves... was raised by a trapper / family born... which is in the Alaska tradition...but proudly stated these facts before she was even in politics..she also bragged many times that she trained to "Poach" as a young child... but that as she grew older she learned the way to become an "ethical" trapper and hunter.. then she went into ARIEL killing of wolves... so "US" yes I stand tall in my statement as being one of "THEM" WOLF LOVERS" .. US" found that to be awful frightful as to the raging way of a wolf-war #1 in the brutal slaying of the American Wolves... and went on a MISSION TO STOP SARAH PALIN and sadly... we could Not topple that evil rotten wolf killing wench... and that is one of the SCOURGES AND PLAGUES that has spread into the rotten minds across the globes that has caused WOLF WAR # 2! ... welcome to the nightmare that Sarah Palin has brought upon us!

Roxie...The aerial wolf killings was put in place to maintain the wolf populations along with a bounty on them. Have you ever lived in Alaska? Do you know what damage they can do to an area? We live in an area where we have seen what devistation wolves can do if they become over populated...can you say that? Can you show me a link to any article where Sarah Palin bragged about being taught to poach!? I really would like to see that!! There are too many people who listen to the lamestream media on things they know nothing about thus when there is someone with factual information they just can't seem to believe it because they've been bombarded with these untruths which is really sad!!
