Wendy Davis ROCKS!! She stood up (literally!) for women's rights!
Perry is going to keep on trying to get something passed; he's such an @$$ IMO. And to think he wanted to be POTUS; I cringe at the thought.

Thanks Cal.

This is not accurate, Perry has clearly said there will be another vote next week. At this meeting of Texas Senate there will be no discussions, no debate and no exercise of democracy.

Wendy Davis and Leticia Van De Putte were strong brave voices for freedom, but Perry will fight this again, and again.

I saw video of this "circus" on Rachel last night. I wonder what anyone from a civilized place would think of what went on here...?? Wendy is awesome.

How tragic that there are so many vicious people in Texas, now after this unique and wonderful woman went through such actions (not the first time either), the dictator, I mean "governor" of Texas is bringing the bill back!
Oops - just saw that Kit mentioned this point - it's nice to know that there exists a few Texans with a sense of decency, but they are the anomaly it would appear!

I do not endorse or support killing a human being after 20 weeks. That's murder, plain and simple.

Article is not quite accurate. The bill was not passed in the special session which ended on Jun 25. However under Texas law the governor can call as many special sessions as he wants if the legislature fails to complete it's work at the end of the regular session. These special sessions can be as long as 30 days. The session that ended at midnight on Jun 25 was the 1st special session after the current regular session. He has now called a second special session to begin on Jul 1 in order to consider the abortion bill and 2 others which did not get voted on in either the regular session or the 1st special session.

The fight isn't over of course... Perry doesn't know when to QUIT.
It's not whether I don't believe in abortion or do believe in abortion.......I just don't believe I should have the law enforced that control what other women can do with their own bodies and I don't believe MY belief system should be forced on anyone else if women are going to be free.
The American version of the Taliban needs to recognize this.

As I've said before, I'm not a woman (obviously), but it's not my decision or that of any other man--I'll rephrase that, It's not my decision or that of any other *person* (of either gender) what a woman does with her own body and the child that is tucked away within her. For Perry to try to decide he does, that he has the power over life and death, is criminal! And all because he's the governor of a state--one of 50, despite Texas's continued longings for renewed independence.

Texas really despises it's women, mothers and children. Why is this? Southerners, I thought, were known for being "friendly" & "neighborly". I live in CT, a liberal state, you can only imagine how bizarre this is in the year 2013! Goodness gracious, if only those ranting about abortion would care once the baby is born, however, they react with utter disgust, disinterest and disrespect....women deserve better, we hold up half the sky...why do men in religion and politics hate us so much?

Thanks Cal for posting the link to the article. Good news for now but I heard on NPR today that Gov. Perry is calling for another special legislative session to bring the bill up again. Read and noted.

What Ms.Davis accomplished was admirable. She has my utmost respect.
Body and mind were not meant for such punishment.
The conservative _males_ did everything they could to make her task impossible. Thank heavens for her fans support, at the end.

We must remind ourselves, constantly, that this tactic is about insecure men trying to take back what little POWER & CONTROL, we, females, have managed to grasp for ourselves.
Thank goodness, for the liberal, self-confident men on this site. We give us faith in humanity.

I think that Senator Davis and those that stood with her sent a clear message of where they stand. What I don't get is why Perry and other republicans think they can slap the American people in the face so soundly and not suffer consequence. We need to vote these kind of people out of office and undo the harm they have caused. No matter the party politicians have to remember that we the people run this country and we only lend them the power they have. We as voters need to remember the actions of Perry and the other republicans we have had to deal with come election time. We need to end the madness.

Rick Perry is trying to call another special session! Call 1-817-200-7797 to stop the special session and press 2!! This is very important to help the Pro-Choice Cause!!
Tell Rick Perry the debate is OVER and to quit wasting taxpayer money on special sessions!!

Adding my compliments to the great Wendy Davis for her stamina and steadfast determination. Yes, I've read the bill will be back, but that means more time to gather more to support Wendy again, or another who may take her place. I'm just hoping this isn't done secretly "in the dark of night" where opposition won't have a chance to speak.
