The face of Texas is changing from one where non-Hispanic whites were dominant in numbers to one where we're an increasingly diverse population, a multiracial and ethnic population, with lots of dimensions of that

If you add the following hard Blue states:

Washington, Oregon California, Colorado, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, DC, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine and Hawaii

To Texas you have 270 Electoral Votes exactly.

I don't hold out much hope for this happening myself; not the way rethuglicans lie, cheat and steal to get what they want. Noted and shared.

Noted. Thank you, Cal.
It seems there's a strong movement to turn TX blue, and I believe they'll succeed despite the odds.

I'll say it again. Vote ALL republicans out of office in EVERY state at EVERY opportunity.

"What is new, Murdock says, is how Texas is growing: Two-thirds of the increase comes from Hispanics, while the population of non-Hispanic whites the group Texans call "Anglos" is barely growing at all. Anglos are no longer the majority in Texas, and Hispanics are expected to outnumber Anglos within about a decade."

This IS what will rid Texas of its toxic citizenry, there is no way the republican party will be able to gerrymander safe districts in Texas when this comes to pass. That is wonderful news. The very same thing is going to happen in the state most hostile to Hispanics of all, Arizona. I'd sure enjoy seeing Sheriff Joe do a stint in his own jail for racial profiling and whatever other crimes he has committed. Right now more than half of the 5 and under population of this country is of color. By 2043 whites will no longer be a majority in this country. So, maybe, just maybe, those who are should be thinking of ways to get along with the non white population NOW, lest what they rain down upon the non white population now be done unto them when they are in the minority. Though I have no doubt, Hispanics will have more heart and love toward us than the republican party will ever show them. I just hope I live long enough to see the republican party become a third party of malcontent misfits unable to win a majority of votes anywhere, there'll be a nice satisfying feel to that for me. And then I can leave this mortal coil happy. Knowing it is at last in responsible hands.

Putting the Wicked Witch of the Midwest in the WH is not a good idea. Her handling of Benghazi should tell you how incompetent she is. No hard questions please; only those that are scripted. those were the rules when she was FL and when she was running for POTUS.
It's time all the compromised parasites of the old guard were swept and kept out of power. Maybe the younger GOP and Dem. members can get together; find some common ground and form a new electable party that is actually representative of the American people? How about an elected quorum of independents; elected by the popular vote? No, I haven't been drinking the Kool-aid.
I'll take Bernie Sander or someone of his caliber any day of the week. Then again, once you get into power you find that you're playing by a whole different set of rules. Just some radical thoughts.....

Hispanics have not been voting in large enough amounts as of yet, and somehow they need to be mobilized and they tend to also be very religious. Therefore the Right could bring them over to their view on various matters. I also know of many poor whites that slice their throats by voting for Republican, they latch onto those well timed and well placed one liners.

Someone I know, who doesn't pay attention to the politics and of whom I spoke to a lot as she is a childhood friend still ended up voting for Romney. She is disabled, can barely see, has no dental and her teeth, what is left give her problems all the time so she has lost a lot of weight, her son is mentally challenged along with the Cerebral palsy. She needs Food Stamps and her son gets a small check for his disability. The struggle to live each day is great, her only "going out" is to the grocery store and his Dr appointments, she must wait for the Medicare to kick in after two years being disabled. She waited too long to apply for disability, she should of had it years ago, but she struggled with low pay jobs cleaning hotel rooms until her eyesight was so bad she wasn't able to see what needed cleaning.

Yet Romney got her vote, I asked why. She lives in a Red State and she told me all the fearful things that had been placed out there about Obama, and that as Romney was a good business man he should be able to get this Country back on it's feet financially, he knows how to make money and jobs.

Egads. She said, yes, I know you mentioned about some 3rd party Candidate if I didn't like either of them but thought Romney would create jobs. Another one who didn't hear "really" what I was saying, and just let the fearful talk of what Obama would do sway her vote. I told her Romney was a destroyer of jobs, he works for the Big Guy, he hides needed taxes in offshore accounts, all that went out the window. So if the Republicans can hijack the minorities they will do so.

I'm not thrilled at the way the Democrats are going either but there are more exceptions of them voting with a bit of empathy towards average people. But we need to get the money out of the elections that is important or we will never have either Party working for the highest and best for the people of this Country, and the best for the people is when the environment is protected and green technologies become priority.
